Resistance bands for holiday?

We will be on holiday for two weeks during the summer and I don't want to undo all the hard work I've been putting in strength training so wondered if resistance bands could help?

Usually lift dumbbells at home, from 7.5kg to 10kg.

Any recommendations of good bands I could buy to take with me? Looking for upper body and some lower.

Any old bands will do but I suggest you decide what exercises you want to do and go from there (will you need long bands, short bands, bands with handles...). In all honesty it is probably not worth bothering, though. You certainly won't undo all your hard work in two weeks and if you want do do anything then bodyweight exercises (squats, lunges, press ups, carrying heavy suitcases) will keep you ticking over. Watch what you're eating and make sure you get enough protein and you should be fine.

Thank you. Maybe it's not worth the bother and I can just stick to body weight exercises.

Are you staying at a hotel? Most hotels have little gyms which I've used before.

DH is a very keen gym goer (I go but am not as keen) and he will tend to switch to body weight stuff on holiday just to keep moving rather than with any particular goals in mind - I sometimes join him and it's hard and sweaty so definitely does some good!

We are at a villa, so might find some HIIT workouts online and then do some body weight stuff. I am thinking that higher reps using body weight will create a burn!

Oh you'd definitely be able to create a burn with burpees, jump squats, jump lunges, press-ups and that's without even getting too creative!

I strength train, mainly calisthenics (so using bars for pull ups, dips etc). You can work chest and triceps with variants of push ups, incline and decline, close and wide grip etc. Back and biceps and harder tho and I would be tempted to get a band for bicep curls, pull aparts etc. Back is the trickiest without a bar or weights I think. Legs - yes you can do bodyweight squats and lunges but if you want to add some resistance the small wide bands are good, and you can use them for shoulder exercises too. It is good to take some time off from strength training sometimes, but if i were going away for two weeks I would be tempted to do some maintenance and also maybe try to work on a weaker area that doesn't require much kit.

Yes, you can definitely create a burn and keep fit without - but if you have been working hard on strength training and want to maintain or would enjoy trying something new, then bands are very helpful I think.

Those are exactly the bands I've been looking at. Given they are pretty cheap and small I'll get some to rays away with me.

Thanks for the advice!
