I currently pay £32 a month, to do pilates once a week face to face, and £10 a month fir access to video classes by my instructor. I want to join a gym. Average gym costs are about £30 a month in my area - or £28 for council gym including swimming. I love my pilates, and don't want to give it up, but want to increase my fitness. So I'll be looking at about £70 a month. I can afford that, but it seems a lot. What do you pay monthly for fitness? I'd love to do 2 pilates a week, but another £32 pound on top seems OTT.

You can afford it I would join up you enjoy it and looking after yourself is worth £70 a month definitely.

I spend £200 on my PT to see him once a week and my gym membership is £52pm but it’s a lovely big gym with pools and a hydrotherapy pool. It’s my bit of luxury, I go 4/5 times a week and really enjoy it.

wakeupandshakeup · 15/05/2022 10:44

I pay £98 pcm which includes my children being able to use the pools (inside/outside). The gym is of a very high standard and the spa is also amazing. Spin classes daily and plenty of other classes to book. It's worth every penny and I've been a member for years.

Those who were guessing my partner spends on what is important to him are spot on - though he is generally obsessed with getting the best deal, he definately prioritises what he wants, whether his money or joint money. This is my money, and the worm has turned. I won't be justifying myself (just on here 😂). If I feel guilty I will just re read this thread. 😊

£27 a month for the gym
£30 a year for a running club membership and then however much for races. Generally fell or small club road races so usually a £5er each and do 2 a month?

DelilahBucket · 15/05/2022 15:57

I pay nothing. I access Pilates via You Tube, I run a couple of times a week and walk the days in between, even if it's just ten minutes. It would add at least half an hour on to my exercise time if I had to travel to a gym, plus the effort to get there.

ChuckBerrysBoots · 15/05/2022 16:03

I’m just making the leap to buy a CrossFit membership - very expensive but a friend said it was about investing in myself and I should consider myself worth it, and she’s probably right!

Down Dog yoga app. About £75 per year. It’s video with a voiceover and you set the length, type of yoga and difficulty, plus you can opt to work extra on certain areas.

I pay £37 a month for military fitness classes, as many as I want to do per week (currently 3 x 1 hour sessions ). I also play a game if 5 a side football once a week which is another £5.

AledsiPad · 16/05/2022 22:02

£75pm for my portion of the gym membership, which includes unlimited classes. I do pilates & yoga 2-3 times a week, swim at least once a week and can use the gym etc when I want.

DH and DD also members, DD has swimming lessons there and does a weekly activity, but sometimes also does other ad hoc sessions whilst I'm in a class.

It's 'expensive' objectively, but actually extremely good value and I wouldn't want to be without it now.

maxwellsilverhammer · 16/05/2022 22:06

40 quid a month for gym which includes class, swimming pool, steam room, sauna etc.

Also gives me access to the studio to use the space and equipment to stream live classes (Les Mills) whenever I feel like it, as long as the studio is unoccupied (which it pretty much is from 12-6 6 7 days a week and fits with my work schedule). So I'll often do a private body pump session followed by body combat or body attack with an empty air conditioned studio all to myself.

Ragged · 16/05/2022 22:31

£21/month for swim membership.
By time I included travel costs, equipment, my other activities must mean additional ... I dunno, £50/month?

Tuters · 16/05/2022 22:32

I have a PT 3 times a week in the gym f-2-f. I'd do no fitness without her.

doadeer · 16/05/2022 22:36

I pay a lot as I do yoga, Pilates and gym so around £80+ a month however I have a child with additional needs, I don't go out or drink... My health is really important to me so it's worth it in my eyes.

SquirmOfEels · 16/05/2022 22:52

I've been doing one of those classes a bit like BritMilFit, but its a different provider - variety of 30/45/60min classes available at different times 6 days a week, either in person in a park or online (whichever you fancy) and videos of most online ones are made available for one week if real life gets in the way and you want a catch up. £65pcm

My old £15 PAYG 60 min Pilates class (different provider) didn't survive the pandemic.

Fifthtimelucky · 17/05/2022 07:10

I pay £39 a month which covers unlimited use of gym, pool and classes at two local leisure centres. It would also cover any activities for children under 16 if I had any.

I don't use the gym much these days but I do 6 classes a week and also have one swim, so consider it pretty good value and obviously I could add more if I wanted to.

This morning is 'legs bums and tums' followed by yoga.

Fleurty · 17/05/2022 07:24

£130 a month for 8 personal training sessions and as many classes as I want (usually 2 per week so 4 visits each week), but it isn't a traditional gym with cardio machines that you can turn up and use, they just do the PT and the classes.

prescribingmum · 17/05/2022 15:07

Has been just cost of equipment until recently (adjustable dumbells, kettlebell and barbell all purchased in 2019).
Now looking at PT sessions which will be £70/month for one fortnightly session, would love to go somewhere like @Fleurty . Where in the country are you?
