Can I have some advice on some exercises that help the weight just fall off? Feel free to suggest diets as well! TIA x

I don't think there is any such thing. Also, losing weight at a slower, more steady pace is healthier. It puts less strain on your organs and you are more likely to keep it off.

Walking, swimming, eliminating sugar and processed, refined products works for me.

Up the exercise, reduce the calorie intake

Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. Our bodies are incredibly efficient - you’ll need to do a heck of a lot of exercise to get yourself into a calorie deficit if you don’t change your diet. If you want to lose weight fast, limit yourself to about 1200 calories a day as per the resources below. Good luck.

Running will do it. It's hard to run lots of miles and be overweight. But it's not a quick job, because it takes a lot of training to get to the point where you can run that sort of mileage.

Starting c25k now, plus spinning and weight training, combined with a healthy diet, is a good place to start. And obviously no booze or takeaways either..

I trained to run a half marathon once (from not being a runner) and didn't lose a single pound in weight. I have learnt over many years of going to the gym and now exercising at home that you cannot out train a bad diet. Exercise will not make you lose weight unless you eat healthily and sensibly at the same time.

you cannot out train a bad diet

Well... it depends on what you call a "bad" diet. And it depends on how much training you do. But obviously training for a half marathon is not going to do much!

If you run a lot of miles you can pretty much eat what you like. It's no coincidence that people finishing at the front of races are slimmer than those at the back. But we're talking a lot of training.

To get to the stage of doing a lot of training the person will have had to lose weight first, meaning observing the whole 80% diet 20% exercise rule.

Many people don't have time for serious long distance training, doing 20 milers at the weekend etc.

I do agree that running is a great exercise though.

Most serious runners I know get up very early to fit in long runs - they have families and full time jobs like anyone else. Most people don't want to do that! But yes, it isn't a short term fix. It took me a good few years to go from a very overweight person who couldn't run round the block, to a size 8 marathon runner.

Anyway, I've derailed the thread, so apologies.
