Painful feet

Did anyone get sore heels of feet? I'm pretty sure it's plantar fasciitis but I'm no doctor. Just wandering if it goes? I'm 34 weeks pregnant so I'm hopeful it's just a short term pain.

I have had this recently and it was bursitis in my heel.

However I did also develop plantar whatsit when I was pregnant.

Rest and calf stretches are the answer pretty much to both, put a podiatrist might help if it's very painful

I now have £50 insoles which have helped.

Thank you! Did you just buy the inserts and place them in any shoes? Or do they only fit for a certain pair? I'll happily see a podiatrist but it's manageable at the moment. I'm hoping it will pass after pregnancy.

They fit it any shoe. I'm mainly excited about putting them in my wellies.

A podiatrist is really worth a visit. You certainly don't want it to get worse and then have to rest during the prime pram walking weeks 😊

Also the inserts came via the podiatrist. He could have done a custom made pair which would have been hundreds, but said off the shelf ones would do the job.

I've had plantar fasciitis, mine wasn't too bad - it hurt in the mornings when I first started walking, or if I'd been sitting down for a while, but once I'd got moving, it quickly improved. I saw a podiatrist, wore (recommeded by podiatrist) insoles, did lots of calf stretching, but I think what cured it was calf massage (initially by an actual massage therapist, so I got an idea of pressure (and pain. OMG the pain)).

It seems different treatments work for different people - rolling my foot with a tennis ball/frozen implement thing did nothing for me, I'm not sure the insoles really did anything either.

I had this, visited a private podiatrist who suggested insoles at £500. Waited for an NHS appointment, and was told that the evidence for insoles was very poor. I have cured it with lots of stretching and strengthening i.e.- ballet-oriented exercises to strengthen feet, ankles and calves (releves, single and double, turn-out and parallel, plies). It takes time to build the strength and flexibility and you have to learn to fire up your whole leg and butt so you're not just trying to haul your weight up with your poor ankles. Lazy Dancer Studio on YouTube has playlists devoted to strenthening feet and ankles.
