Help me! Please!

I used to swim competitively in my youth (now many years ago), and prefer to swim in a cross or racer back suit - something designed to actually swim in rather than for splashing/lounging.

However, my body is currently very much of the splashing/lounging type, and I find that sort of suit gives me no support at all - it's just stretchy lycra and I look awful wobbling about inside it.

I've got a couple of great Boden suits that have more strength and powermesh to provide the structure I need and I feel good in them, but I just know that as soon as I start doing anything energetic the straps will just start to wander and I'll be worried about popping out of the (quite low cut) tops.

Where can I go for something that combines both?

Deakin and Blue are pricey, but they are constructed iykwim and take proper swimming in. Love mine and it looks great on

I've been swimsuit hunting lately & would be keen to help you look... but you need to post links to what you're talking about. I don't understand what you seek.

I get the Slazenger boyleg suits, comfy, full coverage and they don't move around so everything stays covered and where it's supposed to.

Another former competitive swimmer. I find these days I can't easily get out of racer back swimsuits (sosmething to do with bingo wings I think)

My go to swimsuit of choice is now the Landsend tugless swimsuit

mumonthehill · 13/01/2022 13:57

I second the Landsend tugless suit! They also do it in tall which I need. I swim often and it is great. They often have it in the sale.

Sorry to go AWOL - and thanks for the recommendations.

@CMOTDibbler Oh, they're gorgeous! But a bit pricy for me at the moment (even though I expect you're cutting your own throat at that priceSmile)

Thanks for the suggestion, HalfShrunk, but I'm not keen on boylegs.

In terms of what I'm after, I want something that not only doesn't move while I'm swimming, but that doesn't let my flabby bits it's covering move either! My current Boden one meets the second requirement, but not the first.

I've taken a risk on some Pour Moi ones. It's the right shape, I'm not going to fall out of the top of it or anything and the straps won't move (I don't think). I'm also hoping that the actual material is thick and supportive enough - in the old Speedo ones I had, it was so stretchy that my body just used to bounce about inside it.

That said, I'm nervous about buying sportswear from a non sports brand, and I'm not sure about the slightly see-through panels. It is due to arrive today, so I'll see what I think.

Adidas have a stomach flattening bit and are racer back but rather high cut 🌳

CMOTDibbler · 13/01/2022 15:42

I know the D&B cossies are horribly expensive. I actually make my own now with powermesh linings which is much easier than you'd think as I also need tall. But anyway, I'd forgotten that the costume I did buy for this winter as I couldn't find a penguin print fabric for cold water swimming is actually very flattering as it has a double lining (and they have more normal prints in the same shape Penguin costume. The lady who runs Curvy Bathers is very helpful as well

I swim most days- proper swimming. I am also a bit barrel shaped and have big tits. I swear by the decathlon ones that have actual cups because there's no strap slippage even if they aren't a cross over back and also keep the tits in place. Another plus is that they last ages and keep their shape whatever they are made of. I needed to size up though for the bosom size.

Love my Arena swimsuit

I just bit the bullet and bought a deakin and blue swimsuit and bikini. Love them. I am a 34G but short and they keep me totally covered and comfy. I paddle about with the kids but also swim for fitness too (not a great swimmer but more than a gentle head up breast stroke!) Really recommend.
