Pilates and cramp

Hoping someone might know something about this.

I started Pilates classes in August, but every week I have the same problem. As soon as we start, I get cramp in both feet, which lasts for the whole class, and a couple of hours afterwards, and limits what I can do.

Neither the Pilates teacher, nor a friend who is a massage therapist, have ever come across this before.

Has anyone else experienced it, and if so, how did you resolve it?

Does the teacher start with the same exercise each week? If yes, what is it?

I do, so much so I’ve stopped going. She keeps saying I’m dehydrated but I drink 2lts plus of water a day plus herbal tea etc! It wasnt worth it!!

Hmm.

Are you over-working your feet?

Cramp can also mean weakness and you need to gently build up strength in that muscle, I always get cramp in bridge with single leg extension because my one glute isn’t strong enough and goes a bit crackers with the effort. I need to build it up.

I used to do when I first started, but after 2 years of pilates its getting a bit better. I find pointing my toes makes it worse, so I try not to do that. Also, sitting back on heels (shell stretch) I need to keep my toes tipped under me rather than flat out. I've noticed a couple of other people in my class do that too.
