Coming back post-Covid

Anyone got any tips, do’s n don’t see for coming back to exercise after covid? Have t done anything structured for 2 weeks. I’ve done walks of increasing lengths over last 4 days.
Anything to avoid or watch out for? I’ve heard that letting heart rate get too high can be a factor in long covid…

Take it slowly. Build up

As with any illness you just need to slowly increase it. You only progress by pushing your limits, your body will let you know if you are doing too much.

I'm going to follow this if I can when I can. There's a table towards the end which seems clear . Currently I'm struggling to get up and down the stairs without a nap.

So much depends on how covid affected you. I'm 40, double vax'd and had very mild symptoms despite being asthmatic. No cough or chest symptoms at all. I was able to return to my normal training regime at the end of isolation (did some easy home workouts during the 10 day period as well). So straight back in to running 30+ miles per week and cycling or walking everywhere. I kept an eye on my heart rate and it remained at normal
levels for the activity I was undertaking. I realise I'm lucky, but I've had far worse experiences with chest infections and pleurisy where treatment has been needed long term and it's taken me weeks to be able to get out for a walk, let alone run. The overarching advice has to be listen to your body and be sensible, what's right for one person won't be for another, so don't be disheartened or push yourself too soon if you don't feel well.

I'm glad someone has asked this. I had Covid in October/November, and was off work for the 10 days, then signed off for a further two weeks, as I was so exhausted and weak. I'm double vaccinated, and normally fit and well. I'm 57.

Prior to Covid I was doing weights and HIIT workouts.

I'm back at work, which involves lots of walking and being on my feet. I get breathless walking up hills (I live on a hill, so walk up it every day!) or walking briskly up a couple of flights of stairs.

I want to get my fitness back, but there's no way I can do cardio! I'm doing some Pilates, and am starting a Pilates class in the new year (I've previously done Pilates for 15 years).

I'm wondering if I should (try to) go to the GP about the breathlessness? It is better than it was when I was ill, but hasn't improved any further.
