Hi there, I do a lot of walking generally and am on my feel all day at work so was wondering if anyone has suggestions for comfortable shoes that give a lot of support? Thanks in advance!

I wear Hotter shoes usually with orthotics from Boots.

I likes to wear adidas shoes, this is very smooth for my leg and I also feel comfortable.

When I was suffering, I wore trainers most of the time anyway - what I needed was stretches religiously every morning. My calves were very very tight, I had a couple of massages with a focus on my legs (OMG the PAIN!), and then started massaging my calves and sole of foot every morning.

Definitely worth seeing a podiatrist for advice.

I’ve a touch in one foot and like other pp I find targeted stretches, especially first thing, make the most impact.

I wear walking shoes from Go Outdoors which are brilliant, I do a lot of walking too and its greatly helped.

I also find that wearing a sports support bandage helps, one that is nice and tight across the arch

The only thing that gets rid of them properly is rubbing StJohn’s Wort oil ( from health food shop) into the sole and heel at nights.

Unless you want to wear the same shoes all the time then I’d suggest a good pair of insoles that you can then switch between shoes and which will give you support regardless.

Vionic shoes
New Balance trainers

A friend of mine had similar and went to see a orthopaedic surgeon as it was so bad. He said to her you either need to wear Birkenstocks or you will have to have surgery on your feet. She then started wearing Birkenstocks (they also do winter type shoes now not just sandals) and she says they basically cured it.

I've also had aching feet due to having very low arches and pronation And I have found Birkenstocks help a lot.

They have a special shape footbed.

It is important to know whether you are narrow or normal fitting though because it is quite different. And you won't get the right support if you buy normal but in fact need narrow . I have now got pairs of both types (thinking it couldn't matter that much - I was wrong) and for me the narrow are definitely much better and more supportive. Although if I'm wearing them in the winter with very thick socks, then the normal will work.
