Where to start….

Advice needed please!

I’m 40ish with a BMI of 27. So overweight but not huge.

I had a grade 1/2 bladder prolapse after my 2nd DC. Had physio and I don’t leak daily or have urgency problems but I couldn’t run or jump for too long….

I want to lose weight and get active but everything seems to be stopping me. Nervous about the gym, can’t run, might wet myself, two young DCs, work etc. I swam regularly pre COVID but now I think I’m using the pandemic as an excuse not to exercise.

Where to start! Tips and thoughts please. I have the means to join the local leisure centre and they do lots of nice looking classes but everyone looks really fit! Maybe a personal trainer? I’m gonna have to make time aren’t I?

Procrastination and indecisiveness is making me fatter…..advice and encouragement needed…..

I was the same way. I found a exercise class a month ago and now attend every week in order to meet new people.

I’ve started beginner shred (seriously overweight non-exerciser). It’s low impact, no jumping around but keeps your heart rate up. It’s really made me feel a bit stronger in a short period of time. Maybe think about something with weights instead.

Have you looked at the mutu system? You have to pay (it’s £100 ish I think?), but it’s a 12 week exercise course that starts by strengthening your pelvic floor and then builds up to more intensive exercise. There’s nutritional advice too but it’s fairly basic - eat whole foods type thing.

I’ve only looked at the first couple of weeks, where you repeat the same 20 minute video daily, but I think it works up from there.

I had a mild prolapse diagnosed and was starting to get a bit leaky at times. Running and riding were getting to be a problem. After a few sessions with the Women's health Phisio at the local hospital and doing the exercises religiously for months -well forever at a reduced rate - I can now run without problems. I also do pilates and yoga classes 9 3 in total a week) which helps too.
