I used to do loads - running, weights, circuit training etc, loved it! Then I got sick, and while I am much better I still find that kind of exercise hard. I do some yoga, so keep my body moving but I am not strong and I would like to lose a bit of weight, tone up, etc. The things I would have previously done - my body can't cope with them. I need something quite gentle but that will still help me build strength/fitness etc.

I find resistance bands, such as theraband, are great for toning and strengthening. They are easy and convenient to use and you can progress through the different resistance strengths as you get stronger. There are loads of different exercises you can do with them.

Have you tried Pilates?

It'a a good step up from something slightly more gentle like yoga. It often includes both gentle moves and more difficult strengthening exercises which can give deeper or quicker results.

Try to find routines which have been specifically adapted for your illness or recovery stage.

Thank you! My friend just qualified as a Pilates teacher so I will chat with her. I really don't like swimming and I do walk every day. Never tried resistance bands either! Thank you!
