Pre & postnatal group fitness classes

Hi everyone,

I am a mum of two boys - 12 months and 2 years. I haven't had the most positive relationship with my fitness and weight through my adult life. Typically, I finally got to a happy and health place not long before we got pregnant with my first son. As you can imagine, not being the most fitness sazzy, I worried about doing too much exercise during my pregnancy and then went the other way and did far too much trying to 'bounce back' after the arrival of our wonderful boy, not giving my body time to heal.

During my second pregnancy, I learnt about how I could stay active and not put any stress on my changing body or growing baby. Post birth, I learnt the importance of taking exercise slow, building strength back up before going straight back to my pre-pregnancy workout routine. I learned to appreciate all that my body had been through and to understand the 'bounce back' stigma was not only unrealistic but demoralising and unnecessary.

Long story short, I have retrained as a group exercise to music instructor and am in the process of setting up a pre and postnatal exercise business in my local area. I would love to hear other peoples ideas on what they would like from a fitness class and what they would realistically expect to pay?

I am thinking of running aerobic style classes where mums can bring their babies along, with the option of wearing babies in a carrier or sling. There will always be lower and higher impact options, avoiding too much jumping (I know I am still struggling to jump after the birth of my boys!). I also want to offer separate classes for pregnant women which would be gentle aerobics.

I want to provide a safe space for mums and mums to be to come and get active with the confidence that their bodies and babies are not being put at risk. I want to help mums boost their confidence and know they don't need to 'bounce back' in anyway. I want them to experience the mental health benefits of keeping moving, meet other mums and have fun!

I'd love to hear peoples feedback and thoughts around my idea!

Thank you so much,

Lucy
