Weights, prolapse, no gym. What do I need?

I’d like to start adding some weights into my fitness routine. Women’s health physio said not to lift any weights or jump unless I’m using a pessary or tampon as it could cause my prolapse to get worse. Other physio has said if I want to recover full use of my legs I need to train e.g. squats with weights and re-learn how to jump.

I don’t have access to and can’t afford to go to a gym, it needs to be something I can do at home. I could make a one off purchase of some weights, although it can’t be anything that takes up too much space. We live in an already cramped flat.

Am a bit at a loss as to where to start. What do I need and where should I look for workout advice?

If your two physios are recommending very different programmes of exercise you need to cross reference what they are recommending, perhaps get your physio to draw up a fitness programme and ask your women's health physio to look over it and possibly suggest prolapse-friendly modifications. I'm about to re start exercising at 8 months PP with severe bladder and bowel prolapses. Wishing you lots of luck!

Pop up Lift - it's an online programme for returning to gym and lifting work with prolapse(s). It's a one off cost of about £100 Iirc. It gives you a 12 week staged programme and then strenght sessions.

The Facebook group is amazing for support too.
