Please could you recommend the best, strongest sturdiest round them up and hold them down bra?

I’m a 32DD and use shock absorber - can highly recommend them.i use them loads and they are still as good as when i bought them after loads of washing.

DareIask · 09/07/2021 22:18

Some great websites recommended, thank you. Panache and shock absorber seem to be front runners (no pun intended)

@thenightsky now that I haven't tried!

AuntieStella · 09/07/2021 22:19

Depends which sport.

For running (and I guess for anything with a strong percussive effect) it's the Shock Absorber ultimate run bra (try on in a shop if you can or go somewhere with a good returns policy because I found a sister size fits better (one up on the band, one down on the cup)

For other sport either the Panache or a Shock Absorber classic support bra

SandandFog · 09/07/2021 22:19

Shock absorber ultimate run bra.

pickingdaisies · 09/07/2021 22:23

Shock absorber ultimate run, but go up a band size so 36d probably for you OP

mommybear1 · 09/07/2021 22:24

Shock Absorber.

pickingdaisies · 09/07/2021 22:24

And fasten the upper clip before you put it on, you'll never do it once it's on.

CinderFuckingRe11a · 09/07/2021 22:26

Enell are amazing

TokyoSushi · 09/07/2021 22:26

I bought a shock absorber in 2005 I've done 2x classes per week in it since then with a wash after every class. Nothing moves when you have it on and I reckon I could get another 16 years out of it! Grin

ManxRhyme · 09/07/2021 22:37

My shock absorber is 12 years old. And still as supportive as new. Been excellent value for money.

OverByYer · 09/07/2021 22:58

Yes I’ve got 4 shock absorbers of varying ages. I normally buy the wacky coloured ones in the sales. They last forever

Indoctro · 09/07/2021 23:04

Panache
Shock absorber
Runderwear

All useless compared to Enell

I run a lot and have size G boobs and it's the only thing that actually stops the Bounce

I've tried them all

It's very restrictive when you first use it but you get use to it

I've been wearing enell now for over 15 years originally used to get them from USA

Have ventured away a few times when see someone rave about another bra . Wasted my money and bought and found it's used compare to Enell

Don't waste your money just buy a Enell bra.

fellrunner85 · 10/07/2021 09:25

Horses for courses, innit. You see, I can't stand the Enell, but can see pps love it.

Essentially there are three types of sports bra, IME. These are:

  1. "strap em in and hold em down". Ie the Shock Absorber Run and the Enell. These don't have separate cups, are wire-free, and work by strapping you down so you can't bounce. The Shock Absorber Run I quite like, and often run in it for shorter distances. The issue with these bras, esp over long distances, can be chafing. The Enell, for example, is fine on short runs, but after any significant distance it rubbed me so hard I bled.

  2. Hefty underwired bras. Best ones in this category are the Panache and the Freya Active underwire. These work by encapsulating your boobs the whole way around, rather than just strapping them down. More difficult to get the sizing right IME, but if you crack it, these two bras can be brilliant. I run marathons in my Panache and get no bounce at all.

  3. Crap sports bras from M&S/ Primark/ Sainsburys/ etc. Just don't. Spend a little bit more money and get a decent one. IME you need decent running shoes and a decent bra - the rest of the kit doesn't matter.

At the moment I rotate between the Panache and Freya underwired, and the Shock Absorber Run. After 10 years or so of fairly serious running, during which time I've been everything from a DD to an H cup, I've found these three to be the best by some distance.

OverByYer · 10/07/2021 09:29

@fellrunner85 that’s interesting, I’ve never had chafing from my shock absorbers hence I’ve stuck with them. I’ve not run more than half marathons though

fellrunner85 · 10/07/2021 09:37

Yes, @overbyyer - shorter runs are fine in the Shock Absorbers. I just tend to find when you're doing really long distances they start rubbing. Which makes sense, as the whole style of the bra is that they have to be as tight and constrictive as possible.

I still like the Run bra though, and have it in a few colours. It's far better than the Enell IME - the Enell does stop you bouncing, but to the expense of it being difficult to do serious exercise in!

Polkadotties · 10/07/2021 13:33

@fellrunner85 this is why I really like the panache underwired. It looks like you’re wearing a normal bra. I spend all day wearing them if I’m at the yard or at competitions. Wearing the compression bras are ok for an exercise class but to wear all day they are uncomfortable, plus they give you a monoboob look which I hate.

Bryonyshcmyony · 10/07/2021 13:37

The shock absorber is brilliant but I found it an absolute pita to put on. I wear a pull on stretchy crop top type from tesco with the M and S zip front exercise bra over the top, nothing moves, easy to put on and comfy (E cup)

OverByYer · 10/07/2021 14:06

Ahhh double bagging!

Bryonyshcmyony · 10/07/2021 14:18

😂
DareIask · 10/07/2021 17:21

Well it seems nowhere near me stocks shock absorber so my only option is to order from next which would be easy to return those that don't fit.

I did try a couple in M&S... swayed by their current 30% off offer. Getting those zip front ones on is a work out in itself... and as I'm tall the lack of adjustable shoulder straps meant it was too short.

So I'm really none the wiser atm.

Royce are good too. Maybe head to a department store to try a few brands

Boobydoo stocks shock absorber and panache and enell bras. Easy returns too

I agree about rubbing with Enell , if I run anything over 20 miles I end up bleeding

Unfortunately the same happens in the other bras too, in fact I've never found any bra that doesn't rub me

In between my boobs but down a bit towards belly button is pretty much almost scarred from years and years of running and rubbing Sad

If I'm doing a long run I do put tap on there but sometimes that causes issues too

I'd say you would get away with shock absorbers or such like if you slow plodding , any time of speed work it needs to be a Enell , otherwise I find it can be painful - the bouncing I mean hurts

But as others have said you literally have them compressed against you in a mono boob. But it works.

I'd say it depends the type of rubbing you are planning also.

purplesequins · 10/07/2021 19:54

similar size and I havd several.
