Thinking of joining David Lloyd with racquets. Its about £75 each and I'm wondering if its worth the money?
Anything to watch out for? It's does seem like they offer a lot for the money 🤔

I mean they offer a lot of classes etc for the money but if I'm really only interested in racquets is it worth the money.
Or do many racquets users take advantage of the classes and gym etc?

A word of warning: I joined 3 weeks ago on the 3 month membership. I was encouraged by the fact there is a 14 day cooling off period.

I specifically wanted to do aqua classes to build up my fitness. Unfortunately the classes were booked solid 10 days in advance, new classes that are released are fully booked within an hour of going live.

As I couldn’t do the classes, I emailed the club nearly 2 weeks ago to cancel. As I heard nothing I contacted them through the app. No one has yet contacted me.

Calling my club, an automated message says to email re memberships! I have no idea how you are supposed to stop your membership.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that! When I asked about court availability they said you can book 8 days in advance and there's really only one evening a week that's very busy. Seems a bit too good to be true.
Maybe you need to go to the club to cancel?

Was that mob not on bbc watchdog a few years ago as people were expected to give many months of notice?

Read the small print very carefully.

I’m sure the cancellation police runs not from the day you tell them your cancelling but per full month. So if their ‘month’ if notice period runs from say 1st of month and you give notice on 3rd July say they will take that as July not being a full month so your notice on 3rd July effectively starts on 1August. At one point I think they wanted three full months notice? I can’t remember. But if you miss the cut off date that could be more like four months notice!

That's good to know! I have a meeting next week to check the place out so I'll add that to my list of questions, thanks

I think so, but they have the only outdoor pool for miles around here.

When my son joined the yearly membership ran on even after he had cancelled because of some small print (very very small and reams of it)

Someone I know paid a full year up front for her son and shortly after he had an accident to his foot. It needed several operations involving skin grafts so going to the gym was impossible. When she tried to stop the membership they tried every which way possible to avoid paying the money back, refusing to acknowledge the accompanying doctor's letter which she had to pay for, explaining why he could not continue membership.

In the end she gave up and then they tried to get a further year's payment saying she did not cancel his membership, threatening her with legal action.
