Fitness tracker for £50 or less?

PandoraRocks · 18/04/2021 20:22

I love walking and would like to increase my distances and maybe even attempt C25k.
Can anyone recommend a fitness tracker for £50 or less? Something that will track steps, distance, calories and heart rate. Don't need to know what I'm doing when I'm asleep 😁.

I bought one off Amazon a few months ago but returned it as I couldn't get the straps off for charging!

I might invest more in the future but just want a basic model to start.

This one is really good especially for the price. Steps are pretty accurate, it has a heart rate tracker too, it’s battery life is good and it’s not too large.

Its from argos so the item you receive should be genuine, I worry sometimes about whether it’s fake from some online retailers.

I'd highly recommend the Honor Band 5 which both me and my partner use at the moment or any of the Huawei ones, they're comfortable, affordable, waterproof and monitor sleep, heart rate, oxygen levels, steps, distance, menstrual cycle, calories plus you can program different workouts on them like swimming, cycling, walking and running. Argos is best for them usually.

I had a Hauwei/Honor Band, it was pretty good - had a built in GPS (though this did drain the battery in about an hour), heart rate monitoring, step counting, the usual stuff. The app had some good features around cadence tracking at the time. I had it a couple of years, and now my husband is using it as he's too lazy to fit a new battery in his watch!

The only bad thing about the Huawei is that while the app has good features, it doesn't integrate with things like Strava, so if you care about that it's a pain.

A lot of the cheaper fitness trackers don't have built in GPS if you want to track distance accurately. They either use an estimate based on the number of steps or you need to pair them to the GPS on your phone.
I would be tempted to look for something like a Garmin Forerunner second hand. There's a good facebook group called "Running Gear Buy & Sell" where they come up regularly.

I'm looking for a Charge 4 2nd hand on Ebay, might be in your budget. Has GPS.

lljkk · 19/04/2021 17:57

ps: Charge 4 is a fitbit...

A Charge 2 can be paired with phone to get GPS.

@Iljkk have you had a fitbit before? I am just checking as have been through a couple of Charge series and seem to last only a couple of years making them a pricy purchase even second hand. I'm so annoyed as there seems to be lots of warning about this on the internet that I completely missed before buying!

Recently, working Charge 4s have been selling for as little as £50 on eBay (I think).

But I'm reading that their GPS really needs to be paired with a phone (take phone with you on outing) or set to start activity, to show map of route afterwards. So not sure would meet OP's needs (or mine).

Our Asda had fitbits for £55 at Christmas. Don’t know if they still have them or if they were a one off.

peanutbutterjimjams · 19/04/2021 19:08

My son has a MiBand 5 which is actually pretty good for £35.
We've been out together and I checked it against my Fitbit steps and it seemed pretty accurate

BadGuyDuh · 19/04/2021 19:11

Oh I'm looking at similar. The Huawei ones got good reviews so might get one.
Do you take your phone or iPod etc when you run and if so what do you do with it?

This is an old thread but after much debating I've just ordered a Samsung fit2 their basic model. Hoping it can cover all the key bits that a fitbit did for longer life span and half the price 🤞🏻
