Aches and pains most of the time

Have always been pretty active, used to run 3/4 miles 4 times a week, do bodypump and combat.
I stopped doing so much and trying to get back into it, more pump and combat at home. Last night I tried step and it must have done something to my knee because today ive been in agony, also twisted it at work today. Feel like ive got bursitis in my hip on same side too and always got a bad back.
Feel like I am falling apart at the age of 39!

Have you ever had a problem with the knee before? If not, maybe you just started a bit too enthusiastically after some time away from exercise?? Give it time to recover, maybe see a GP if it's really bad?

It's disheartening when you're keen to get stuck in and are stopped by pain - it won't last forever!

One thing I've learned as I've aged is that stretching is way more important these days if I want to avoid pulling stuff Confused

Peri-menopause is my guess. The aches and pains can be utterly ridiculous.

I fell over on an xmas do 2019 right on that knee, its still numb just under the knee cap now, this is the one im having problems with today. To be fair I dont stretch much because ive always been able to just do exercise without needing it but maybe I am needing it now!

Have you ever had it checked out? There may be some damage to the knee. I used to be able to get away without stretching too, but not any more! Can't remember what aches I had at 39 but at 51 there's a whole heap!

Perhaps get a full MOT before launching yourself back into exercise, and then take it slow. Frustrating but worth it as you're less likely to have set backs then.

Once I hit 40, all of a sudden I developed issues - a sore knee and hip from running, then tennis elbow, lower back niggles.

I see an osteopath when something flares up, he can often sort it out in a couple of sessions. Physio has been useful in the past too.

@MyLifeNow20. This is me too. Made the mistake of increasing my running once the gyms etc closed in January. By Feb 1st I had a stress fracture! 9 long weeks later it healed and literally the next run I twisted my knee. I am now waiting for that to sort itself before I can go back to exercise. It is so frustrating. What I have been doing is upping my calcium/vitamin D intake as a preventative measure. Once I am fit again I will see if it has worked . Plus agree stretching is key plus pacing yourself with rest days in between. Also introduce strength training into your exercise regime
