Do you recommend? Also, is it only the 6 which enables you to leave phone at home and still receive calls and messages?

I totally recommend, used to have series 2 recently upgraded to 6, very happy. It depends - if you chose the cellular option then you don't need your phone with the watch to receive calls or messages, with non-cellular you can't do that you need your phone

I like mine. I didn't bother with the cellular option, I don't mind carrying my phone in a pocket or bag.

Blossomplease6 · 06/04/2021 07:53

I’m not allowed my phone at work so the cellular option is a major feature for me. Is it only the 6 that has that option?

Is the cellular option a different watch? Or just an extra subscription or something?

I think it's only the 6 and the SE which have the cellular option, it's different (more expensive) hardware to the normal ones which just has GPS.
If you aren't allowed a phone at work, would you be allowed the cellular watch which essentially is a tiny phone?

No, to be honest I wouldn’t but hopefully nobody would notice and it’d just be so that I notice any important calls from school coming through.

Reading into it it’s probably not worth the extra monthly cost as other than when I’m in work I always have my phone with me. If I do get one, I’ll get one that enables cellular so I’ve got the option of adding it later if I need to but I’m hopefully not going to be in my current job much longer.

I have an Apple Watch 5 and I can leave my phone at home and just wear the watch and receive calls etc, I could do it with my series 4 as well.

Blossomplease6 · 06/04/2021 18:42

Oh that’s interesting. Will have a look at the 4 and 5.

Can it link up with my fitness pal? I like that about my Fitbit.

Yeah it works with my fitness pal.

How does that work? Does it require that it's connected to WiFi i.e. it wouldn't work on a country walk?
DeadButDelicious · 06/04/2021 20:41

@ErrolTheDragon The cellular versions have a built in esim so they can make and receive calls without having the phone nearby.

Yes, I didn't realise that was available except in 6 and SE

Being able to leave my phone at home was the clincher in me getting one, I've had the 4 since it came out and only recently upgraded to the 5 as I fancied a stainless steel case and I've always been able to leave my phone at home and just have the watch. I don't like taking my handset out with me on dog walks or the nursery run so I leave it at home and use the watch. Both of mine have been cellular and gps.
