Walking boots

Can anyone help me find some walking boots? I have wide feet (bunions), need a size 7 (I'm 6.5 but like to wear thick socks for walking) and want them to be waterproof. They must be a boot and Not too thin a sole as I have fibro so need lots of support.

It sounds quite simple but there's so many mixed reviews I don't know where to start!

I have 2 pairs that I really rate.

Burrell II from regatta. Quite light, vibram soles, space for extra insole if needed, good ankle support, good traction in mud and on slippy rocks, waterproof, perfect straight out of the box. Quite affordable too, I got my pair in the sale for £50.

Keen Targhee III. A bit more spendy but they're like the burrel times ten!

I have small l, high volume, wide feet. I've had about 3 pairs of Brasher Hillmaster (Leather) in my time. They are a long standing classic for good reason.
I use superfeet insoles for support (in all footwear actually).

It's tought to buy blind, and frustrating that you'd have to if you can't wait until shops reopen. I bought a bad pair of trainers in this way in November because my usual.style was out.

My most recent pair are scarpa and I’m going to wear them forever. Not cheap but worth the investment.

I agree it’s really hard to buy without trying on,l.

I've got very wide feet and I've found Lowa and Scarpa brand boots a very good fit. Cotswold Outdoors and Ellis Brigham are good places to go (covid permitting) to try on a range of boots and get proper fitting advice.

Salomon and Murrell are good for wide feet. Can you get some tried on when shops are open? There’s a brilliant shop in the lakes which will let you wear them for a hike and still return them if you’re not happy with them

I've got Merrell which have been excellent, but I don't think I could buy blind - I'd wait now until shops open if you can? Or you may be able to find some in a garden centre type store if need them urgently?

I have very very wide feet and found Mammut boots excellent.
My most recent pair I bought last summer and have been walking daily in them throughout winter, usually 10 miles. What I love about these is that they are the lightest boot I have ever worn. Sometimes to get the width I have to compromise on other features. These are probably the best boots I've ever had, even beating my old Scarpas which I loved. Excellent 9n water too. I've been known to paddle in the sea in them and remain dry.
I'm usually a size 4 to 4.5 and bought these in a 5.
You may find them cheaper if you shop around. I paid around £150.
