Get tired when walking much more quickly than cycling - normal?

I find walking hard. I get tired quickly, not so much on the flat but up any sort of incline. My lower legs burn and I get out of breath - I just don’t find it comfortable to do. However, I can cycle on an exercise bike for a long time, even with the resistance up, without feeling out of breath. My legs ache a bit after a while but it’s not anything like as bad as when I walk. Is this normal?

Oh and I should add that my BMI is 27, so overweight but not drastically.

Different muscles invoked in walking uphill and cycling . So your cycle ones are more developed

Discovered after a harsh cycle ride followed. By long hill walk

I have to stop several times on a long hill or several flights of stairs.

The only answer is to do it more often

Yes have started walking up a hill near my house every day - will see how long it takes to make a difference!

Could you be anaemic? When my ferritin levels drop I notice the difference more with breathing when I walk than when I spin. I also wonder if it is because you have to carry yourself whilst walking whereas your body is supported by the bike seat. I am obviously no medic but I can relate to what you say.
