I'm 30 and feel like I have the knees of a 80year old
It's always been this way since early 20s I enjoy exercise and want it to become part of my ongoing life however no matter what I do
Run
Cardio routines
Spinning
Weight training
I'm in agony with spend another month waiting for the pain to go to start again,
I've been the gp in the past an just get the advice to take painkillers/ice/rest.
I'm not massively over weight 5'8 size 12/14 (after a big lockdown gain)

I just really want exercise to be my lifestyle aswell as drop the pounds, any knee pain tips.

NHS has a Pilates for knee pain exercise workout.

I'd love to do a clicky link but I've never learned

Walking has kept away my knee pain.

I've had knee pain all my life, from my teens (now 40). I find if I don't walk then I'll be in agony with my knees.

I only realised walking helped when my children were on school holidays and without the walk to and from school everyday I'd be in so much pain.

I started running last year and have managed to keep that up with my walking. I still find without walking my knees get bad again even if I continue with other forms of exercise. Doctors have never been able to say what causes it and fobbed me off with fibromyalgia.

What kind of trainers are you using? I started getting into fitness a couple of years ago with just a cheap pair of trainers and quickly developed the same problem, it made me want to stop. Not helpful now but I went to a sports shop and had a quick gait analysis and they recommended some asics trainers that are really comfortable and made a huge difference.
Its definitely worth spending the money on a pair of activity specific footwear.

Ah just read this is a long term problem. Try low impact exercise, walking, walking fitness exercises, pilates, yoga and swimming are all good for joint pain.

I’ve had a few knee problems lately (torn meniscus, torn lcl etc) and am now back running. The problem was that as I have hyper flexive knees so the muscles around my knees weren’t strong enough (other muscles did the work) . I’d go and see a specialist sports physio, ideally one with a gym who can give you a programme of exercises to build up the supporting muscles around your knee. It took a while, but no problems now. I also do Kettlercise which has lunges, squats etc which keeps those muscles strong.

See your GP get a referral and you might get an Op to sort it out
