Best exercises to lose mum tum? 6 months pp

Hey!

I'm 6 months pp now and ready to get in shape!

I had an emergency section when I had my little girl so that may be why I've not gone back to normal yet and have a little bump still.... I want to lose around a stone over all too.

I've been eating healthier and I'm exclusively breastfeeding which I presumed meant you lose more weight except I haven't? I haven't eaten loads of extra calories either to replace so why I'm not losing weight I'm not sure. I'm eating around 1800 a day!

I'm thinking of buying a cross trainer as it's sooo cold outside I don't really want to go for walks and this whole lockdown has really unmotivated me. I'm also a rubbish runner. Any tips or trick would be amazing!!!

I’ve no idea but I’m the same so following for advice too

If you are not getting outside and exercising 1800 calories could well be too much for you (you don’t mention your height/weight). According to my smart watch, on a day when I don’t exercise or head out for a walk I only burn about 1650-1700.

With both DC I held onto a few extra pounds until I stopped BF. Your body somehow knows it needs the calories I think. This is a known thing, there are other threads about this and my obstetrician also confirmed it.

I honestly think the best thing to start with is to get out walking as much as you can. Just wrap up warm!

If it’s all around your tum have you checked for diastasis recti? Bodyfit by Amy has some good videos that are safe to do even with abs separation.

Didn't finish my reply before pressing send. Ooops.

Yes I've heard about our body's holding onto extra calories!

I actually checked for diastasis recti about 20 mins ago and it seems okay. It's just my tummy that's poking out. To be honest I didn't gain a lot of weigh during pregnancy! Only 1.5 stone and I lost most of it now x

I lost the baby weight too but the tummy is still big 8 months later , I’m guessing due to c section

Yeah they say if you have a c section you tend to have a bit of a tummy after. 😒 sucks... My scar is very low though so hoping that has some good effect on my weight loss

Go see a women’s physio, they can see if there is a muscle separation or weakness and give you specific exercises to do.

It may not be weight so much as muscle issues.
