Best running trainers?

I’ve googled but my brain is boggled.

Basically took up running last year, held off buying any fancy trainers as I assumed I wouldn’t be a long term runner. But here I am a year later still running once or twice a week, only 5k runs and always on pavements.

I wear ASICS for netball and like the support but they have holes in now.

I have quite wide toes thanks to huge bunions so nothing with a hard top or narrow end. I don’t mind spending a bit (eg up to £100) but I don’t know my gait or anything like that. My knees and ankles are very sore after running so I guess really they need to be super supportive and cushioned.

Does anyone have any recs please?

Brooks 90 day guarantee is great. They even let me return a pair I bought from another retailer for a refund after 80 days. The retailer wouldn't take them back but Brooks called them and sorted it out for me. I ended up trying a different pair of Brooks later and they are great.

Was going to start a thread asking just this. I want to start the c25k again. I used to run a lot but injury from running( knees) get stopping me.
I have always run in skechers go run ride because of the low heel drop and the weight. I can't run in heavier shoes.
My old pair have lost their padding and my knees are complaining generally now, I'm 53. So I need something lightweight but with good cushioning. I have spent hours trawling through running sites over the last few days.
Brooks sound good. New balance also get very good reviews.

I vote Brooks but honestly If you can at the mo, then go to a shop so they can analyse how you run. If you can't, have a look at the soles of some of your other shoes and see where they have worn. If the heel wears more on the inside than the outside then maybe get some worn support on the inside. Mine are Brooks adrenaline gts and they have this.

@2021vision

Saucony would be my recommendation but please look at what type of feet you have and then look for reviews/info on-line.

I have v wide feet, in the end I bought a mens size as it suited my foot better. Personally I would not buy a running shoe on-line unless I was replacing an existing known pair. You need to get fitted at a proper running shop.

I have awful bunions and have only ever got on with Saucony too, I'm awaiting delivery of my 8th pair.

Another vote for Brooks. They’ve got me through a marathon and marathon training. I think they’re called Brooks GTS and then a number (each release gets the next number up). Really good fit (especially if your feet are wider and very durable. I never had blisters (till actual marathon)

I have just done the analysis thing on the website. I am definitely an underpronator as all my shoes are worn on the outside edge only. Does anyone one which shoe would be better for supination?

@BigButtons I have Brooks adrenaline gts, worn more on the heel at the outside
