Exercising at home

As the gyms are closed again, and the weather is pretty uninspirational for running, I need some ideas for exercising indoors (especially since I've gained at least 1/2 stone over Xmas!!!)

I enjoy doing weights at the gym mostly, have some kettlebells and looking at getting dumbbells in a heavier weight.

What I need is ideas / inspo for other workouts. Was thinking Pilates or Yoga but no idea where to start with the raft of stuff available on YouTube!

Can anyone recommend any good classes / workouts to watch? Or any other ideas of what I can do?

I’ve started Pamela Rief Hiit workouts on youtube... she’s very sexy and fit and is very obviously concerned about how she looks. BUT... she doesn’t talk and just plays music so it’s more bearable.

I then follow with Adriennes new Jan vids

I'll be honest - I hate running, especially when I'm feeling as unfit as I am now. Have a slight hip niggle which meant I didn't run much in the last few months and was doing strengthening exercises in the gym instead.

I'll have a look at some of these workouts, just feeling like a massive potato at the moment. Would love to get back doing some heavier weights again. Eyes peeling for when they come back into stock!!!

Downward Dog with Core Bonus. Tone your arms, core, and legs with this exercise.
Happy Frogs. Work your legs and get your heart pumping. ...
Power Punching. Tone your arms and shoulders while boosting your circulation.
Drawbridge. Lie on your back and bend your knees, holding onto your ankles if you can.
Planking.

Whoever told me about Les Mills - thank you!!! Have been doing their body attack workouts on YouTube and I love them.

Still trying to get hold of a barbell for body pump - if anyone finds any in stock anywhere let me know!!!

@ningaj have you tried looking on gumtree?

devildeepbluesea · 09/01/2021 09:12

@ningaj I bought a barbell for my sister just before Christmas, from Argos. Only with 20kg weights but that's enough to start with Bodypump. Keep checking, hopefully they will be back in stock soon. Only £30, she says it's surprisingly good quality.

@rookiemere yes tried gumtree, eBay and FB pages

@devildeepbluesea I've seen the Argos ones, they have good reviews and a great price. Checking every couple of days hoping to catch them in stock!

@ningaj we managed to get a bar just before Christmas- had the plates already and had to get the endy thing separately so more expensive than the Argos option- just had a check and sadly none available at the minute.

Another vote for skipping if you've got space to do it indoors. There are lots of great people to follow on Instagram such as lauren.jumps, lots of different tricks/different footwork to do so unlikely to get bored. It's great fun and really addictive!
