Adidas running shoes

I'm about to start couch to 5k and am in need of some new running shoes.

I also have a £20 Adidas voucher that I'd like to put towards them. Could anyone recommend some Adidas running shoes please?

I'm female, not sure if that makes a difference when choosing running shoes. I'm unlikely to ever run a marathon but I'd like to be able to run 5k three times a week.

I have some Adidas solar boosts that I got in spring and seem to be doing well so far. I think they were about £60. I don't run marathons either. I go out at lunch / evening and do about 2-3 miles, a couple of times a week.

I'm definitely not a pro runner. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge will be along soon.

I used to buy ASICS but they are expensive and I'm not sure I run enough to justify the cost.

I got told off once, by a colleague, for saying that one of my hobbies is running. Reason being is that I just go for a bit of run around the park (his words) and that isn't really running 😂. My view is that running is running, whether you are doing a few k or a marathon but you don't need to spend loads on running kit (including shoes), if you are only planning on doing 5k a few times a week. I think the expensive ASICS shoes are aimed at people who run more than that.

Thank you. There seem to be a number of Adidas boosts, I will have a closer look tonight.

By the way, how rude of your colleague. I swim (and used to swim to a high level) but I would never dream of telling someone who swims less than me that they aren't really swimming.

Some of the Adidas Boosts are pretty good - I have a racy pair I like for fast 5ks, if I'm racing Parkrun rather than just running it.
And the Adidas Boston is a stone cold classic running shoe.

BUT... if you're only starting c25k, I would recommend buying a decent neutral cushioned shoe from Sportshoes in the sale, and spending your Adidas voucher on shorts or a top. Much more bang for your buck that way.

Good examples of decent all-round running shoes in the sale are the Saucony Triumph (see also the Saucony Jazz):

Or the New Balance Zante:

If you're lucky enough to have tiny feet you can pick up a cheap Saucony Kinvara too, at the moment.

Not really sure what the comments re expensive Asics are about. Like all running shoe brands, you can get cheap Asics and you can get pricey ones. The best runners I know tend to run in Nike on the road and inov8 on the trails/fells, but they're v pricey unless you het them in the sale. When you're starting out, and unless you're doing serious mileage, I'd never spend more than 60-odd quid on a shoe.

Thanks both, I'm having a look at the options this evening.
