Super low impact workouts?

Anyone know of any very low impact workouts? I used to be a very heavy gym user, mainly using free weights and sometimes machines. Was building up to competing but was set back by a back injury. After a few years out of the game I'm significantly heavier and joints are buggered. Mainly knees but this causes severe hip and lower back pain. Lunges absolutely out of the question, as is jumping. I currently do long walks with a bit of yoga but Christ do they hurt. Anyone know anything better? Even when out of lockdown I won't be returning to the gym, so home workout recommendations would be ace! Grin

Could you get some professional advice (eg sports physio)? My first thought is Pilates for all over strength with good attention to form and protecting joints and back, but it would be good to get expert input if you can I think.

I had a sports therapist for several years, helping me through training and most importantly my injury. Not sure how I'd manage now though. I more or less know what I should be doing, but I find it easier to follow along with a workout you know?

Mr Motivator has a weekly "daily dozen" video on youtube that's easy to step through low impact. His wife often demonstrates chair adaptions.

Women’s Health on Instagram has some great workouts as does the NHS site.

OP, yes totally understand about following a workout. But if you know what you should be doing, can't you find workouts that include and focus on that stuff, and then tweak? What sort of things are recommended? I do strength training/calisthenics (mostly at outdoor gyms) and at home do les mills on demand for cardio and variety but adapt some of the workouts to suit me. I also do online pilates and if I wanted to pursue that I would pay for zoom classes

Swimming. It’s not at home but it is really the best for low impact. Rowing is also low impact, but very strenuous so maybe not compatible with your injury. You could get an ergo meter for your home/garage.

Hiya.. As a Trainer/PT I’d recommend Pilates as it’s non impact & full body toning.. Building core strength can also help with back & joint issues.. lots of free workouts on YouTube.. I just started my own channel on YouTube ‘Yoga & Pilates with Jenny Marie’. all videos free.. there’s a 30 min Pilates abs, thigh & glute workout if you want to try one.. I’ll be uploading new ones every few days too.. Good luck x
