Sea swimmers - how do I warm up?

I started sea swimming over the summer and want to keep it up as long as I can, but the last two sessions had me frozen afterwards. I'm out of the water an hour and despite a hot shower (and even drying my hair), I'm wearing a wool jumper, wool dress, fleece, thermal tights and I've just had a cup of tea, I'm still freezing. I've the kettle boiling again for more tea and a hot water bottle.

Dry robe was a game changer for me. Swimsuit only, swim in the sea every day.

Have a lovely hot bath when I get home though!

It was really warm here today (24 c) so I went for a dip without hot water bottle. The waves were huge, too big to actually swim but loads of fun for bobbing about. I wore a rubber swimming hat which I don't normally and it made a big difference, my hair not being wet. I'll see how I get on with the toastie bag, flask of tea and bobble hat later in the week. I'll report back.

I find eating a banana or something light helps! I swim in swimsuit, booties and gloves for 30 mins, get out, dry robe on, peel off wet stuff, thermos of tea and a banana. Then have to pray I don’t get stopped getting home naked under my dry robe!
Warmish shower an hour later and I’m good.
