Activity Tracker - worth it or pointless?

I'm pretty new to exercise and am currently doing a short HIIT workout 3-4 times a week and trying to walk more. I tried C25K but it hurt my knees, however, I've lost almost a stone in the last 6 weeks and am keen to have another go soon now I'm not so hefty. I'd love an activity tracker to count my steps and see my heart rate etc but the more I read up on them the more confused I am. Everything seems to point to them being frequently inaccurate and prone to breaking after a couple of years Confused. I could spend up to about £100 on one but will I just be wasting my money?

I have this tracker. I really use it like watches so I don't think I've wasted money on it. I like making the day aim and to know that I've done it. You can download an app on your phone but I am not sure that it's so effective. You can't see your pulse and calories on the app.

I have a FitBit - I bought it because I needed a new watch, and I thought, why not! I have the cheaper Alta Heart RAte one.

It comes with a really easy to use app on my phone and when I was seriously shedding weight (I was overweight but not obsese) I used the FitBit app to track EVERYTHING I ate. I lost 13kg over a year and whenever I need to shed a few kilos, I go back to being accountable to myself in this way.

It's great because you can keep track of your macros, and also start to make better choices - do I want chocolate or a whole omelette?

I don't know how accurate it is, but it does what I need it to do - I have it set at 15,000 steps per day, and - pre-lockdown - did at least 3 days in a week when I 'd get to about 20k to 25k steps.

Mine cost around £80 I think
