I normally buy saucony but my usual shops haven't had any in my size since end of March , and I don't trust random web shops

I need a neutral, cushioned shoe , size 5, to run in , for hobbit shaped feet. Very wide rather stubby toes ..does anyone have a shoe or store recommendation please ?

Do you have a local independent running shop who might discuss and take your order by phone?

JoyFreeCake · 03/07/2020 18:06

I have triangular H-width feet with abnormally short toes and run in Mizuno Wave Riders or Nike Frees.

JoyFreeCake · 03/07/2020 18:07

The Mizunos are neutral and cushioned.

Nothing local that can help

New Balance , Brooks, Hoka and Cloud are I think the only ones that do a ladies wide fit. I have New Balance 1080s, and 890s as well as Brooks ghost . They are all neutral / light support. I think New Balance also do an extra wide.

The other option is to go for mens shoes which are generally a wider fit.

I have wide hobbit feet (narrow heels though) and just acquired some Mizuno Wave Kizunas. I also liked the previous generation Wave Riders, not tried the newer ones. Saucony Kinvara 10s only just wide enough.

I have wide feet, and like wide Hokas, or my current beloved shoes are from On Running. I have support shoes, so can't recommend a neutral model

JoyFreeCake · 03/07/2020 18:19

The problem with men's shoes is they're often too big at the heel for many women.

BikeRunSki · 03/07/2020 18:20

New Balance are wide as standard to start with and do a wide fit in many styles.

Many running shops are doing online video fitting or will talk through with you on the phone and several shoes out by post. Some shops are also doing fittings by appointment. Accelerate in Sheffield are doing all these things. Give them a ring. 0114 242 2569.

I know how to lace a mans shoe around the heel, but size 5 is more boys than men!

New balance doesn't seem to work for me , from memory, they are not blunt enough around the toe box but taper in a little

Thanks for all the suggestions !

How do you lace a mans shoe around the heel? I have narrow heels so interested in this!

I've got wide feet but I've found these really comfortable:

I tried on a pair of Saucony's waterproof trainers and they were way too narrow, so there's definitely a lot of differences between models. These are pretty cushioned too.

I have very wide feet and narrow ankles. I used to wear a neutral ASICS but found Adidas ultra boost to be amazing and haven’t looked back. The soft shoe really works for my low arches. I never run for more than 10k though and have read somewhere that they aren’t great if you run longer distances.

I've got really wide feet and bunions, my feet were not made for dainty high heels! I've always found nike trainers to be good and I do a lot of running in them. I usually get a half size bigger so a size 7 when I'm 6,1/2 and they are definitely wide enough.
