Shin pain when running

Hi all,
Wondering whether anyone can help. I'm about 3 months into running, have been building up my distance and pace and have come a long way in the last three months.
I love running and how it makes me feel. Currently running about 3 or 4 times a week, average distance of 5-6km per run.
Recently my shins have felt really bruised and sore when I get back - even so that I can't even touch them. They are absolutely fine when I'm out running, it's just when I stop.
Any ideas what this could be and how I can prevent it happening?
I had pain even trying to take off my running leggings because they are tight and even the feeling of the material pulling over my shin bone was agony.

Also, the kanerji compression running socks from decathlon- are they worth buying? What do they help with when on long runs?

Thank you 🏃🏼‍♀️

Shin splints, you need to rest.

Have you got decent running shoes, they should help?

@AriettyHomily I read about shin splits and it says it's a pain all up the lower leg, whereas my pain is just in one location. It's on the inner side of the shin bone lower down the leg, probably about 4 fingers above the foot.
I have proper good running shoes and socks, plenty of support and bounce for running on concrete

You really really need to rest, this will not go away if you keep on running. Prime suspect for the cause would then be too much too soon on hard surfaces although the distance you're doing isn't excessive, so most likely your trainers need replacing or you need proper running ones.
Compression socks in theory improve blood flow (same as why people wear them in hospital or on long haul flights) although some people who've been injured also wear them for calf muscle support.

Definitely shin splints. Rest is the only answer. Carrying on runs the risk of stress fractures.

Then...Get a sports massage when that kind of thing is allowed. Look at some gentle calf stretching exercises with resistance bands. Get decent trainers and compression tights will help.

And you've possibly increased your exercise too much too soon, sounds like a lot over 3 just months.

Sorry op, not what you want to hear when youve found exercise you love Sad

Thank you for all your replies.
Rest it is for the next while unfortunately
@TheGoodDinosaur I'll just have to find something else I love for the moment that has minimal impact. Will definitely take the advice on the calf stretches/massage etc. Thank you!
