Couch to 5k-type exercise alternatives

I've been tempted by the whole couch to 5k programme but with quite a severe prolapse from having several heavy babies, running is out.

I tried joining in with Joe Wicks' PE but with a history of a bad back and one dodgy knee, found that too hard. Too many squats and lunges - at least on the ones I watched the DC do.

Can anyone suggest a fitness programme alternative which won't exacerbate my prolapse, back and knee? I haven't exercised for years (since school PE!) but am approaching my 50th and would like to be fitter and more toned.

Joe Wicks has some 'easy on the knees' hiit videos on YouTube.

Thanks for that. I will check them out now.

I would consider low impact options. Pilates would be good for strength and tone. Cardio wise, possibly a low resistance exercise bike, I used to love spin when my knee played up. I used to swim too but that's not an option now.

Forget Joe wicks altogether! You don't have to do "high impact" anything, it's not the law of exercising. I'd recommend brisk walking for a heart workout and strengthening exercises so you could do a squat but slowly and controlled. I think it's pretty pointless doing things like that fast under hiit and you're really likely to do yourself an injury. Weight training is more and more important the older you get as a woman, as your muscle tone declines more quickly as you age. Get yourself a few resistance bands as it's a great way to challenge your muscles without overdoing it or risking an injury.
