Sea swimming

Would sea swimming count as daily exercise? I could walk to beach, it's only 10 mins from my house. I've got all the gear - wetsuit, tow float and would stay along the shore.

Thoughts!?

I've got half iron man booked for September so starting to worry about not getting the training in for the swim.

There are good reasons why local restrictions on sea swimming differ - some beaches are inherently more risky than others, some more attractive to non locals etc.

So you need to check locally.

I just noticed the banner ad I'm seeing on this thread is for large paddling pools.Grin

I'd leave it TBH think the problem is if you get into trouble swimming or it encourages other people who would ge into trouble.
wouldn't panic too much about it you could train to do that swim is 8 weeks it's just over a mile and cut off time not to bad.
I've been out on my bike there a cycle path paralell with dual carriageway that no one uses I cycle 4 miles chained it up run 2 mile loop then back on bike 4 mile and 1 mile loop repeated that few times.

The difficulty is that while you are equipped, have local knowledge and know what you are doing, the vast majority of the population have not, and as a general policy, it needs to be discouraged.

I'm guessing that lifeguard provision and RNLI services are not in place as usual as they are skills useful for redeploying elsewhere. If you did get into difficulties, the risks are higher than usual.
