Please come and join me.

We can share workouts we like, ideas to replace equipment etc. Might as well use this time to get fit.

I have been using YouTube for workouts, and recently discovered the 7 app. They also do a yoga and a barre one too. I've done more yoga in the last few days to help my anxiety and am feeling loads better. I don't even like yoga.

Anyone else in? Tell me what you've been up to and we can motivate each other.

Hi everyone, thanks for joining me!

I'll have a look at the ballet workouts @lekkerkroketje, everyone says ballet is good for skaters but then I read that bent knees arent a thing in ballet, but everything we do in skating needs a bent knee, so now I'm all confused again Grin

I'm trying to do something every day, yesterday I went for a walk locally (very quiet village) and thought I'd do some weights when I got back. My kids were late to bed though and try as I might I just could not get motivated. I'm trying to cut myself a bit of slack though and seeing anything as a bonus, and more than I did pre CV!

I've been on a short bike ride with my eldest today (deserted forest trails) and hopefully will try a bit of yoga if the kids go to bed earlier. I'm fit for nothing in the evenings.

You'd be able to do most of it with bent knees but you'd be knackered afterwards trying to hold yourself up straight! It's lots of knee bending and let lifting , so basically squats and leg lifts but in an artsy way to work your leg and abdo muscles and stretch out your legs, torso and feet. So you should get something from it! It gives me a mental work out trying to follow.

BunnytheBee · 25/03/2020 20:14

I’ve done barre classes - is it something like that you’re thinking of?

Womenwotlunch · 05/04/2020 22:43

I have been doing InsanityMax30, walking 5 miles a day, Callanetics and Billy Blanks Tae Bo

ritzbiscuits · 06/04/2020 15:41

@lekkerkroketje Look for the Dutch National Ballet on You Tube.

They have a barre class which is intermediate/advanced, but easier than Tamara's.

Maydayredalert · 06/04/2020 18:19

I had a great week last week, YouTube has so many free workouts. It has really helped me! I've found a great stretching one tailored for skaters that I'm doing daily.

I also found a great barre one, did some zumba from different videos, a brilliant boxing one and finally one for my gym machine that has been a clothes horse for the last 10 years!

How are you all getting on?

lekkerkroketje · 06/04/2020 19:41

We're not on such full lockdown so I'm walking in the sun and my road bike is seeing much more love than before.

I had a go at the Dutch national ballet but the man's tracksuit really bugs me for some completely unreasonable reason Grin

Maydayredalert · 06/04/2020 19:48

My anxiety is really bad at the moment so I haven't been beyond my garden gate. Fortunately I have a very big garden so can at least get outside.

Isn't it funny what puts us off or endears us! The boxing video I did was so hard but I stuck with it because the lady was so bubbly and friendly!

I have a daily early morning workout routine. A few weeks ago, I purchased a exercise DVD online from Amazon too. Every morning I do a mini workout. I also have a skipping rope and I like to go for a short walk as well. I also have done some brisk running to the mailbox and back. I even bought a hula hoop in case, will use that tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow I may try out a lunchtime streetdance class online. At lunchtime I get the kids doing star jumps with me. Or we play a quick game of indoor tennis. I also like to lift some light weights and whenever possible I like to fit in a hour of dancing. But I cannot wait to get back into the gym. How do you manage to keep up with your exercise routines? I basically want to kind of spice things up now and add some fun and variety to my current exercise routine. All suggestions are welcome. I am keen to try new ideas.

I've got terrible back probs after two kids close together so I've taken the opportunity to spend every day doing pelvic floors and ab contractions when standing around which seems to be really helping.

Also doing weights/TRX in the garden (one move at a time as I keep getting interrupted by said children) and cardio x 3 a week (GRIT or sprints) plus a circuit on a sunday with loads of core stuff in. In addition I've now begun 5:2ing to help counteract the chocolate buttons and booze I'm consuming on a daily basis out of boredom.

Mooserp · 10/04/2020 16:09

I've been getting ideas from instagram and doing some live workouts from there too. Eg Alice Liveing and Laura Biceps

Exercise right now is my saviour...if only for the fact I really can't stop over eating and it's slowing the weight gain... I do really need to get the eating under control but that's for another thread.

I have a Myzone belt which is connected to my gym and it's really encouraging trying to place higher on the leaderboard.

I've been doing the live workouts with the gym. There's usually 3 a day and I like the 1pm one. It's a variety of body weight., HIIT and they even do a backpack one where you fill a backpack with any weight you can and the workout is based on that ... that's a good idea also if you want to do some weight based stuff.

I do Les Mills on demand most days. I've had LMOD for years and swear by it and it's even more important to me now!

Also a bit of running and a walk most days of course.

I’ve been doing different workouts on YouTube. Mostly Fitness Blender ones which I absolutely love and a Natasha Oceane one. I’m loving the variety. I used to do the 30 Day Shred but would end up dreading doing the same thing every day for 10 days and never stuck to it.

I’ve also been walking for at least 30 mins a day.

I tried a Pilates video on YouTube earlier in the week and really struggled with it but I’ll give another one a try next week.

Bopalopashamalamadingdong · 13/04/2020 17:37

Anyone here? :)

y2kvwyk · 14/04/2020 08:14

This stay at home causes us to sit or lay down more than we usually would. I have experienced in myself that I get much more back and neck pain than in the past. I read an interesting article that suggests exercise to help relieve the pain here on Lovin Dublin.

I used to do yoga once a week and run once a week but cycle 3 x week (to work) and go walking 3 x a week. Also swimming about once a fortnight. Now I'm doing more yoga - 3 week (mostly Adrienne) and running - 2 or 3 x week and hardly any cycling. Not much walking either, just a longer family walk once a week and the odd quick trip to the shops. I did a HIIT class online from my gym and PE with Joe once with the kids but mostly prefer getting outside if I can.

sociallydistained · 14/04/2020 23:34

Anyone with a Fitbit purposely trying to keep their steps higher? Mine personally are higher than ever as I walk on the spot, pace a lot purposely so I'm not sat down all day then do a full hour walking or running outside and my workouts if something like bodycombat or body attack is another hour of movement. I'm getting over 20k steps a day and It's keeping me sane (although walking on the spot whilst watching a film for the entire duration might be the opposite of sane!)

trader21c · 15/04/2020 17:36

I’ve got my bike on a turbo trainer so I do that and go on my rower - also lots of Yoga (downdog is very clear) and other live Instagram classes. I like Blogilates too!

cad186 · 17/04/2020 21:34

Trader what rowing machine have you got? I quite fancy one!
