Natural protein shake?

I'm training for a half whilst also trying to lose a bit of weight so nutrition is a balancing act and I want to make every calorie count!!

I'd like to introduce protein shakes particularly on long run days but not mad keen on the idea of buying powders.

I have a normal blender so does anyone make their own using linseed powder / peanut butter / nuts or similar?!

Nuts are very calorific, so it's fine if you want to have some calories. Whey Protein is just mostly based on cows milk - what are you worried about with it being "not natural"? It's a good source of extra protein without massive amount of calories. I use the optimum ones, you get 24g of protein for 125 calories.

I make a smoothie with half a banana, spinach, chia seeds, coconut water, frozen berries, a small spoon of nut butter and then add a good dollop of fat free Greek yoghurt. Delicious, and as I have it instead of breakfast I'm ok with the calorie content. Decent amount of protein in the yoghurt and nuts/seeds. I used to use protein powder but it seemed a bit pointless and I hated added the calories in plus it's processed which I'm trying to avoid as much as I can

I just can't be arsed to source protein powder and keep it in the cupboards to be honest!! I'd like to use stuff I can get easily in Aldi!!

I tried just some nuts, banana, Greek yoghurt, milk and milled linseed today which was a bit gloopy but tasted OK.

You're absolutely right about nuts - wowsers they pack a calorie punch - but that's what I need before 10 miles.

I might switch to fat free yoghurt mind and also look into coconut water instead of milk.

I vary mine depending on what sort of exercise I've done that day (I always work out on an empty stomach) and also if my smoothie is close to midday then I have it instead of breakfast and lunch so I make sure it packs a higher calorie punch. If it's just replacing breakfast then I lose the nut butter
