Step exercise recommendations

After suffering chronic pain in my shoulder for nearly two years, with advice through a physio I'm working on targeted exercises but also want to increase my general fitness.

I used to love doing step in the 90s with my mum, is this still a thing? Im considering buying a Reebok step for use at home but can anyone help with the best video recommendations.

I noticed Les Mills do Bodystep classes but not near me. Has anyone tried their On Demand classes? Are they quite hardcore?

I use Les Mills On Demand and the bodystep classes are great. There’s a huge variety and “athletic” as well as normal classes which are higher intensity.

Also look for Step Reebok on Youtube which is sooo 1991 but still a brilliant workout.

Thanks for your advice. I'm tempted by Les Mills on demand, but a bit intimidated by the gorgeous instructors and glossy production!

I've just looked on You Tube and they have the original Cher Fitness with Keli Roberts that we used to do!

If you get Les Mills then also try the Tone class - it's great!

Don't be intimidated by the presenters. They can't see you!

@FanSpamTastic yes I can, is that Body Balance? I can’t see one called Tone?

Ah, I do it at the gym - looks like it is not on LMOD - shame!

Barre is good too - that seems to be on LMOD.

FanSpamTastic · 26/01/2020 12:25

Body balance is good too - that is a bit of a mix of Tai Chi, Yoga and Pilates.

Ahh thanks. I may well give the trial a go, I'm just trying to get my general fitness up with some You Tube videos first.

Body balance is amazing as is body step. And doing it from home means you can ease back into it. I do these classes at my gym as it motivates me more. But doing it from home is good if you're disciplined.

I used LMOD all the time and love it. I agree - definitely don't feel intimidated by the presenters. Although super fit, they come across as really warm and relatable. The production is really good but I see that as a positive as it means I can get a clear view on how they're doing the move (esp as I am v uncoordinated!)

The trial is good because you can test a few things out and see if it works for you. I also like the fact that they have short class options (15 mins) all the way up to full length ones so much easier to fit in. Good luck :-)

Thanks @TeaAndTrifle @heymammi I'm going to give it a go.

@ritzbiscuits Good luck 😊

Just wanted to update you all to say I've started my LMOD trial and loving it! I've done Getting Started Body Balance, Body Step, Barre and Sh'bam so far. Being able to fit it in to short gaps in my day without the faff of going to a gym seems to be working well so far!

Reebok step has just arrived, so will be planning my first Step workout at the weekend when I'm back from work travel!

Ahh, well done! I'm glad you've found something that works for you Smile

SpoonBlender · 04/02/2020 12:07

Congrats on following through! Well done, hope the shoulder eases out eventually.

Really glad you're enjoying it :)
