Long timer on the meal planning threads and need to get moving my body every day even in a small way, anyone up for a weekly exercise plan? Will do this week from Monday and try to create one for next week too:

M: 3mile hike With kids
T: bouldering
W: 3 mile hike with kids
T: PT weights session
F: PT weights session
S: at home yoga session (so bad at making this happen, aiming to do it as son as I get back from DD’s basketball game)
S: bouldering

I dont even know what bouldering is! Do you have no rest days? What exercise do you currently do?

dementedpixie · 09/01/2020 12:07

I so this
M - gym fit class
T- body pump class
W - nothing
T - gym fit class
F - body pump and body attack classes
S/S - nothing

Thinking of trying body combat and body balance next Monday instead of gym fit

There isn't really any cardio work there, it's mainly strength. Is that what you want? The yoga will really help with everything else, so I hope you are able to do that.

Mine is
Mon: swim
Tue: run (while DS2 at football training)
Wed: run (while DS2 at school)
Thu: swim or run (while DS2 at school)
Fri: swim or run (while DS2 at school)
Sat: rest or maybe swim or bike or climbing wall with DS2
Sun: long run (while DS2 happy watching MOTD or playing XBox).

I do mix it up quite a bit, but really like to get 2 swims in (am in training for open water 1 miler)
Running is my passion and so easy to fit in with work/school schedules.
I won 1/2 price annual membership to the sports centre so will try and do some classes when I can. Tomorrow I'm doing a 15 min core session and will then swim straight after.

I'm a single Mum and DS2 is 10 so while I can leave him for a little while it needs to be planned.

I do need to get a bit more cardio but have been focusing on strength the last 6months. Honestly this is to kick start me so I’m trying not to have a rest day but aiming to just move my body every day - when I work (I freelance) I’m incredible sedentary so will sometimes manage a walk at lunchtime.

Would love to get back into swimming, been meaning to join the YMCA again. I can’t run, really fucks up my left knee and my right hip, but I try to get in hikes (normal include a decent elevation)

@dementedpixie bouldering is rock climbing (I do it indoors at a climbing gym) without belays, so effectively free climbing

My PT just cancelled today Sad so will try to do a weights session before I go to work

Going to aim to get back on my bike once a week - I miss my days of regular weekend rides of 75miles!!

pirateship we discovered bouldering as a family a year or so back and love it. I think it provides an excellent cardio workout ( my heart's going like the clappers when I climb), as well as strength training. My husband has struggled to find his 'thing' having been discouraged from sports as a kid, but he gets so much out of it, both physically and mentally. The centre we go to is really friendly. If you boulder 3/4 times a week, you must look like Lara Croft by now!

I'm trying to do something each day, even if it's just a walk. This week it's been a brisk 6k walk, running x2( I only do 4 km), swimming x 2. I'll do swimming tomorrow and maybe yoga on Saturday, then off to the wall on Sunday.

We go as a family too! It’s such a great activity to all do together and we always go on Sunday mornings now, I would love to regularly add in an extra session a week just me

I'd be concerned that you have no rest days.

Spring and autumn pattern: I run 3-4 times a week, Pilates class most weeks, resistance band/general fitness class weekly, occasional dance class. One or two rest days a week.

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 10/01/2020 00:12

Don’t worry about me @AuntieStella very few of my days are going to be particularly hard core, some days I’ll probably just about manage a 30min walk at lunchtime which would probably only put me at 5,000 steps but I need to make sure I’m doing something every day particularly because a lot of days there just isn’t time for a proper workout and if I don’t make the effort to do something small then several days a week I will do nothing at all.

I only Boulder once a week regularly and have kids in tow so probably only get 8-10climbs in over the course of an hour!

Me:
M: bike commute
T: bike commute + speed session ( 1 mile w/u, 3 miles ish of intervals, 1 mile w/d)
W: bike commute + slow 3 mile run
T: bike commute + tempo 6 mile run
F: bike commute + weights session
S: Parkrun with mile warm up/down either side
S: Long run of 2-3 hours

I really need to fit in more strength stuff, but struggle to find time.

Runningonempty84 · 10/01/2020 16:51

That was this week - the runs step up each week during marathon training.

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 12/01/2020 04:16

@Runningonempty84 we have the opposite problem, I want to be on my bike more but can’t commute unfortunately and yet have time for strength!

Am well proud of myself for actually doing the planned yoga at home this am

Saturday: at home yoga and prob walk a few miles doing beach clean up
Sunday: family bouldering
