Hi everyone. Wanting to start couch to 5k next week but need a decent sports bra, so looking for recommendations. I'm big busted so need something that's going to keep them contained Blush . Don't really want to spend an absolute fortune either. Thank you!

Did you not find the Enell very chafey over longer runs, @CrotchetyQuaver?
It stays put, for sure, but it rubbed me to pieces. I tried the size 0 and the 1, but same problem on anything 2 hours plus.

Right I've managed to get a shock absorber & an underwired Freya (reviews were great!) for £50! Just ordered so will keep you all posted wether or not it keeps the bad boys contained 😂

Brill! Good luck OP Grin

I,m also going to disagree with Shock Absorber - not enough support for anything above a D cup. I wear a Freya underwired sports bra plus a normal underwired bra and that combination works for me (for half marathons)

Haha thanks ladies! Hoping they are both good as I hate faffing about returning things 😂

I'm a sized 36FF and a long term runner and have tried every bra on the market

Shock absorber and Panache Are fine for gym work but offer poor protection for running compare to The Enell , it's definitely the best but it's very restrictive and not very flattering but for limited bounce I'm afraid it's the only one that truly works

You can only buy it on line , I've been using it for over 15 years now.

Honestly if you are large chested do not bother with anything else they really just don't compare.

Salene · 10/01/2020 07:38

And yes the enell does rub over longer distances as someone has mentioned, unfortunately for marathon it's just something I've learnt to live with, sometimes I'm left bleeding after very long run.

I don't have issues under 15 miles with it though .

I can see you've already purchased a couple but if they are no good I really recommend Nike. They are really costly at £50 but I've had mine for years and the girls are very contained and do not move at all. Also the band around your waist allows you to breath whereas I found shock absorber was so taut it didn't allow for deep breaths in and out when running.

I am a 36gg. The only sports bra I felt comfortable running in without clamping my arms over my chest is an Enell. Very expensive, weird sizing, and quite ugly but they certainly strap you down for the ride! No bounce is possible as it's very close fitting and flattens your bust - but surprisingly comfortable.

TriSkiRun99 · 10/01/2020 13:52

I use a boob band over the top off a shock absorber to minimise bounce plus I Vaseline all rub points for runs over 5k as I too get sore which can be horrible. But greasing up around all seams and straps seems to stop the issue.

Shock absorber have "impact levels" on their bras from yoga to aerobics kinda thing, I've always bought the "max impact" ones if that makes any difference

helpamummaout · 11/01/2020 13:12

Never knew about the impact levels! Will have to try find out which mine us. Really hope they come Monday so I can start running.

@Runningonempty84 I'm a horse rider rather than a runner, so whilst they're supposedly the same "impact level" activity according to the last time I looked it up, the physical movement is different. I've never chafed, but I do get very sweaty in it, which I gather is quite normal with Enell bras.

helpamummaout · 13/01/2020 13:49

Woohoo they've arrived! Both fit nicely so don't think I'll have to send any back which is a bonus. Downside to the Freya is it makes my boobs a bit pointy looking 😂, and I nearly dislocated my shoulder trying to fasten the shock absorber 😂. First run tonight going to wear the shock absorber so watch this space 😂🙈
