Baby in tow

Hello all. I'm after a bit of advice and inspiration. I've got a 10 month old who is very needy and I don't get much of a break from him (no family around etc). I have around two stone to shift.

Do you exercise with your baby? If so, what do you do?

I used to run quite a lot but can't quite imagine it with my boy. It's going to be hard to find the time either way. But I suppose I could run on the flat with him in the pram? Just feel a bit meh about it. What other sorts of exercise is helpful? I like having something to work toward, maybe virtual running races / plans. I can't decide.

Inspiration and motivation please xx

Join a gym with a crèche? That way you get of a break too- sometimes I just go for a soak jacuzzi and a coffee without doing any actual exercise ha!

You can get decent used running buggies cheap on eBay. I’m sure other mumsnetters can advise on what to go for.

I take my DS cycling with me and have done since he was 6 months old (he’s now 3). We go out at least once a week (usually 3 or 4 times a week in the summer). I’ve got a decent child trailer (Burley Solo). It has meant that I can go cycling when I fancy, rather than work it round childcare. DS absolutely loves his trailer rides. We tend to make a day of it, park stops, cafe or picnic stop etc... towing a 3 year old for hours is significantly less tiring than being cooped up inside trying to entertain one!!

See if there are any Buggy Fitness or Pushy Mums classes near you. I used to do Pushy Mothers which is for mums with babies in buggies and takes place in the park, it was brilliant.

I ran with both DC (not together, but I did used to do a hilly 5 mile route with a 3 year old and a baby in a double buggy), and cycled with a trailer.
I also went to mum/baby exercises classes , called Buggyfit and also “mum and me” Pilates. My youngest is 8 now, so I have no idea if those particular brands are still about, but there could be something similar.
