How can I reduce the number of tummy rolls when I sit down?

I know it sounds like an odd title.....

I'm slim, a size 6-8, 5ft4" but whenever I sit down my tummy is awful and has 4 rolls rather than the 2 that most people have. Tummy exercises only exaggerate the 'roll' under my boobs and make it even more obvious.

Has anyone got any ideas please? I currently do lots of walking and two burlesque dance classes per week. I'm currently on holiday and the fact that I've got these 4 rolls rather than 2 is upsetting me as it looks awful!

Sounds like you need to put on some weight! I’m a size 18 and only have 2 fucking huge rolls around the midriff.

I started an e revise class called TRX at my local authority gym. 2 30 minute classes a week and by July it was like I had a muscle girdle around my torso. No more extra rolls.

How much do you weigh?

Clothes sizes are utterly meaningless these days, unfortunately. And the likeliest cause of appearing to have too much fat is having too much fat (sorry)

What exercise do you already take?

Is it definitely fat and not extra skin? Have you lost weight before?

I have 2/3 pending on well I sit 😂😂

Thank you for the replies!

I weigh around 8 and a half stone.

I did previously lose 4 stone to get back to this weight and I have had 3 fairly large babies but it seems to be fat rather than just the skin?

If it's loose skin, there isn't really anything that can be done (short of surgery), though some people swear by pummelling or massage. Even though they may well not work, if you enjoy it, you may as well do it.

You can't spot reduce by exercise.

But you might find exercises which target abs (and laterals - is that the right name? - tummy and your sides) are helpful.

Yoga and Pilates both have enduring reputatione for streamlining the silhouette

And you might also like to look in to the Alexander Technique (to help you unlearn any bad postural habits)

Build your core. If it's loose skin then there may be limits on what you can do. But ever since I started building my core, there has been an enormous difference to my once ruined looking stomach. The more pronounced your abdominal muscles are, the more they will fill out loose skin. However a lot of what we dismiss as loose skin on our stomachs is subcutaneous fat. Even on otherwise very slim people stomach fat can be the last to hang on. So I'd suggest adapting your diet to lose fat and build muscle, which isn't easy but can be managed slowly. While exercising to build your core. And cliched as it sounds, I've found that bio-oil (or better yet the aldi version) helps a little with the loose skin.

Another one saying build your core. I've just done a class a week. Makes you stand taller, feel stronger and generally feel better too.

Since you've lost what's now half your body weight, it probably is skin. That does shrink over time - years, unfortunately.

If it's fat - well. Reducing fat is a full body affair, you don't get to choose where it happens. If you - like me - reduce from the extremeties inwards, you'll have to keep going and going and may never lose the belly chub until you're low-fat enough to impact your health.

In which case, you'll have to make your peace with it.
