Exercise whilst pregnant

Hi,
Can anyone recommend any online fitness programmes to use during pregnancy? There seem to be hardly any on YouTube. I exercised alot pre-pregnancy and would love to find a programme to use whilst pregnant. There seem to be hardly any classes in my area.

How many weeks are you now & at how many weeks did you stop doing your usual exercise routine?

The usual advice is carry on with whatever you're used to, but some caveats about lifting, over-heating, exhaustion, etc.

18 weeks. I used to run 5 times a week. I stopped when I had awful morning sickness and now im feeling better im struggling to get back into it.
I was hoping there was some kind of prenatal exercise programme I could sign up to.

If you are used to exercising a lot then most special prenatal exercise programs will be too easy and boring for you. I'd rather try some regular aerobics classes, if you are finding running challenging. Do you have any LesMills classes aroud you? Check BodyVive - basic moves so nothing new and too challenging in pregnancy, but it's good cardio.

I'm 18 weeks as well and started doing dance classes, swimming and yoga/Pilates. Planning to try water aerobics too.

All are just the normal classes, not specifically for pregnant women. I think most instructors get training on how to adapt exercises for pregnant women- they should tell you throughout where you should do alternative exercises

There are some guidelines here: www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/pregnancy-exercise/ but PPs are right. Now isn’t the time to start training for an Ironman, but gentle to moderate exercise is fine.

Sorry, had a brain fart there and didn’t finish my post. I meant to say that I can’t recommend any specific programmes but most exercise classes etc should be fine if you’re already fairly fit.

I agree, if you were active before getting pregnant, then most of prenatal stuff would be too easy or boring. I really struggled at the beginning of pregnancy as I couldn't do what I used to. Then I gave up and went for a pregnancy class - I was really grateful afterwards for all the pelvic floor preparation exercises as I had a 9lb10oz baby easily. If you don't have classes anywhere near you - have a look at the Pilates Pod YouTube - there's not much there but you could still do a bit of matwork exercises and there are some tips on pre and postnatal recovery. Good luck with finding what works for you))
