Is there a good exercise thread?

I want to turn my exercise streak into an exercise habit, is there a thread for exercise for people of all abilities/any activities?

My goals are to do the recommended 150 mins a week, and get into some sort of a routine!

Just back from beginners running club and going to a Move class tomorrow.

I think the threads that continue are for a specific type of exercise e.g. running, HIIT etc.

Yes it seems that way, thank you.

I think it's a good idea to look at exercise 'in the round'

Because even though eoooe do keep banging the drum about the virtues of cross-training, it does all seem to go down the silo of what seems like the 'main' sport/activity, with the others just being a supporting role. And perhaps it should be a little more ntegrated.

My main one is running - a 'light' week is about 12 miles, a proper training week is 22+, so I easily make the 150 minutes.

But I don't put the same effort into other activities, and perhaps that's what I should be directing efforts towards. I do a dance class once a week (which doesn't feel too demanding) and a short session with resistance bands. I used to go to a very good Pilates class, and need to see about re-starting, and perhaps looking for other sports I used to enjoy nod seeing if I could o a bloc of one of those over the summer

This is exactly how I think about it AuntieStella. I used to do a lot of yoga, cycling, swimming so I have always been that way inclined. Triathlon would be perfect for me, except I was diagnosed with a rare lung condition three years ago. I have no idea if I could finish a Triathlon in the allotted time. I have had to rethink exercise as a lot of things are out or trickier. For example I tried the netball team and the coach was very inclusive but one of the team members was asking me to run more for the ball. I couldn't and felt like I would either let them down or be restrictive (I could only manage GK).

Thankfully I've just discovered a local community gym where they have a range of fun classes. So far I've tried Zumba, a trampoline class, a beginners run club and had an induction on the machines.

As a minimum I want to do three cardio sessions and one strength session. I will still cycle and swim when I can. I have goals i.e. run 5km.

I don't fit into the severe lung diseases category so trying to find other people like me is proving tricky!

I like doing a variety of exercise too. I see a PT fortnightly, do a circuits class weekly, yoga weekly, and then might do any other kind of stuff - long walks, a run, play some tennis, badminton, swimming, some kind of weights at home etc.

I'm not working for a goal, I do it just to maintain a base level of fitness and strength. It keeps me healthy, and gives me plenty of energy, so that's why I continue.
