So I do karate, I'm in my 40's and have had 2 kids. My pelvic floor is not great. Some months it seems to be worse than others.
I need to do pelvic exercises in addition to my twice weekly class but in the meantime I'd appreciate any recommendations for really good pads or even knickers that help absorb extra leakage if such a thing exists? A lot of our warm up exercises are jumping based and I want to be able to enjoy it and give it my all without worrying.
Any suggestions would be really gratefully received. I can't be the only person who has this problem!

I use a pessary called Contiform which is a hard rubber ring that you insert into the vagina which supports your pelvic floor specifically during exercise.

I had mine prescribed after women's physio sessions after a referral by my GP and it's great!

You might be better off exploring the cause of the leak, rather than just trying to absorb it. If you know your pelvic floor isn't that great, a course of physical therapy might be able to do good things for you. High impact exercise can wreak havoc on a weak pelvic floor, and eventually cause further weakening and worsening of symptoms.

Physio has done wonders for me post partum. Would definitely recommend an assessment.

I never knew such a thing existed! I'm going to make a massive effort on pelvic floor exercises for a while and keep a diary I think. If I can grout getting better I'll keep going but if it's not better enough then I'll definitely get a gp appointment and see what I can get that way. Thank you!

Same here. Contiform all the way. And pelvic floor exercises, obviously. You can just buy it .

Ask the GP to refer you to a gynae physio. And while you're waiting, find Michelle Kenway physiotherapy- she's invaluable

I kept seeing ads for Modibodi underwear pop up on my Facebook. I have no idea why but have perpetuated the problem by looking at their website. They do underwear that soaks up leaks.

Try the squeezy app. It’s an nhs recommended app to remind you to do pelvic floor exercises and for how long.
