Parkrun for joggers, shufflers and part-time walkers

I have done a couple of Parkruns during the course of couch to 5k and I really enjoyed them. I've never been brave enough to actually register but have come in at around 40 mins or just under. That's a mixture of walking and jogging. I'm going to do my first registered one on Saturday as I've discovered a new parkrun near me which isn't quite as competitive as my local, and there are lots of runners at 39 plus minutes.

My goal is to complete under 40 mins and to shuffle continuously for 25 mins.

Anyone else a slow park runner?

I’ve done the odd 40 minuter :) I prefer to keep jogging continuously, reeeeeally slowly. I have quite short strides. I jog with a group and it’s just me shuffling along out of time :)

My parkrun also has quite a lot of walkers and Nordic walkers. It’s very uncompetitive:)

Shuffling can get you far - I did a marathon last weekend, in 7hrs and 45 minutes Grin

A marathon! Wow!

Yes I find continuously slow jogging much easier than stop starting. The plan is that I'll get quicker eventually but of course that may never happen Grin

I did a park run in 46mins. I jogged/shuffled the whole way but probably could have power walked it quicker!

My shuffle is defo faster than my walk but not faster than dhs walk as he loves to point out Hmm

A lady I jog with shuffled past her kids doing their athletics practice one night. The DCs friends said (which her DCs found hilarious and of course reported) “isn’t that your mum? Why does she look like she’s running but isn’t going anywhere?”

I was the final finisher excepting the tail walker today as I was with my 6 yo. My local parkrun is very busy, and unfortunately the section where we get lapped is quite narrow, it's a relief to get to the quiet of lap 2! Over 650 people finished before us!

It's quite sociable up the back, and it's a good welcome in. Running at my own pace, I'm mid-field which has a good jovial mass atmosphere, but bringing up the rear feels more personal.

We were 50+ minutes as he wanted to walk most of it. He's keen, but is struggling with pacing/ stitches so I'm trying to encourage fast walking/ slow running.

I'm a frequent tailwalker - it's my favourite volunteer role.

It's brilliant at the back - I've met all sorts of people and had time to talk (usually when walking) and I agree with smarmy that ir's really friendly

BTW - I'm also more than happy to leave people alone (not everyone wants company, or they just want to zone out with music, or theybwant to natter to their mate and no one else) so don't worry about being stuck with someone weird who won't shut up!
