Ideas on finding time....

Hello.
How does everyone find the time to exercise? I am really struggling to shift my last lot of baby weight and with holidays coming up I need help! I eat well but could be better. Exercise would definitely help me but with an 18 month, working full time and a husband that works shifts I'm struggling to find time. Someone please help me! Are there any good home workouts I can do?
Thanks Grin

I really think jillian michaels 30 day shred is good. 20/30 mins to fit in at home when you have time. And it works. It’s so hard though with work, baby and everything else. Good luck.

30 mins run around the local rugby field at lunchtime.

Parkrun at 9am on Saturday mornings

H worked away a lot when DD was little. No family nearby/anyone I could leave her with. I bought a rowing machine and an indoor trainer for my bike. Eventually I bought a cross trainer as well. The only time I could find to exercise was before she woke up or when she was in bed for the night.

I think the key is to find something you love doing, for me it is rowing. We sold our rowing machine last year (more than a decade later) when we downsized but I really miss it so have got a new one arriving tomorrow and I am getting back on the water for the first time in almost thirty years next month.

For me to do it I had to love it. Cross trainer was a means to an end. I like cycling but after a very close call on the road I rarely do it these days which is a shame. If I had someone to ride with I would do it but I don't.

Rowing is the only sport I have ever really enjoyed.

when work is full on i just get up earlier to fit in a DVD (so far they've all been Jillian Michaels) - even allowing for extra stretching I'm done in 40-45mins. did the Shred first, then Ripped in 30 days and now doing 6 week 6 pack...

I either run very early before DH leaves for work, during my lunch break, or go on the treadmill on an evening when kids are in bed, with the baby monitors set up next to me. I train 5 or 6 times a week, with one of those being a long run on a Saturday when DH takes the kids swimming. For me it's been about prioritising Running as my 'me time' - yes I could be doing a 1000 other things in that time, but it's my only hobby and the only time I do something for me, and it makes me a nicer person!! It's been about changing my mindset from 'I'm too busy' to seizing every chance, because if I don't "get up and go out now" or if I sit on the sofa rather than the treadmill it's a missed opportunity and I'm not going to get that chance back.

Beachbody do the most amazing workouts for all levels.

They're most famous for creating Insanity. They do a whole load of different ones though.

I reached this point after about a year after having DS. Diet just wasnt cutting it anymore so I needed to add in exercise.

I started with their 21 day fix portion pots (amazingly simple) and I now do Liift4- combination of weights and HIIT. The shortest workout is 30 mins, longest 40 mins. You have 4 workouts throughout the week. And have an allowance for a cheat day too.

I have never been healthier or leaner in my life. I am lower than my pre-pregnancy weight in a healthy and happy way.

I do FIIT. You choose cardio, strength or rebalance. You can do via your phone / tablet / tv. You don't need equipment.

Classes are divided by ability and are 25 or 40 mins long. I generally do it at lunchtime as WFH. However if I can't I eat early dinner and do at 8.30. I couldn't have time to go to a gym so this works well.

If you choose premium which is about £15 a month you get sent a monitor that does heart rate and calories, reps etc so really helps keep you motivated.

I've lost a fair bit of weight and inches and feel much more toned and strong.

I really recommend it!

Exercise is great for you for lots of reasons but weight is 90% diet.
I also work full time (generally 8am-4pm) with an 18 month old, I have a half marathon coming up. I run twice during the week normally, either straight from work and DH picks up DS from nursery and will get in with him roughly when I'm done and in the shower, or I pick up DS and have an hour or so with him then run once DH gets home. Saturday parkrun as a family and my long run on a Sunday morning: if DH not free then I take the running buggy which I recommend if you run.
You could get a timetable for classes/swimming at your local leisure centre and book sessions weekly that fit in with your OH's shifts perhaps?

Fitness Blender has hundreds of free workout videos that you can filter to your needs - length of time, difficulty, what part of body to work etc etc.

In terms of fitting it in, I think it's one of those things - if you want to do it, you'll find a way, whether that be waking up early, running with a buggy, at home workouts or arranging childcare (eg babysitting circle). But it's really tough when they're little.
