Best headphones for gym/running?

I've just ordered some new on-ear wireless headphones to replace my old ones, but now I'm wondering if they will be ok for the gym and running, or will they get really sweaty?

Does anyone else use on-ear headphones in the gym? I find in-ear ones tend to fall out but maybe I'm using the wrong type.

Any suggestions? I'm hoping I can just use the ones I've ordered, but have also been looking at Apple ear buds or similar.

Thanks!

Dont know the makes I’m afraid but just about everyone uses on-ear head phones at my gym. Some of them are huge 😲🎧.

My in-ear ones do fall out but I have a small head so can’t get on-ear ones to fit either.

My in-ear ones are Apple buds.

I use Bose Sport in-ear headphones in the gym and they're great. Never fall out. Most of the other gym users seem to be wearing huge on-ear headphones but that would drive me nuts.

I use MPOW. They are in ear, but then the wire loops over each ear and joins round the back of the neck. They are sweat proof, relatively inexpensive, lightweight and work well. They come with various silicone coverings for the bits that go in your ear so you can find one that fits best. The standard one has always worked fine for me.

Thanks all! I think the general feeling is I should invest in some decent in-ear headphones. I think I'll stick with my on-ear ones for commuting, but will invest in a second pair for the gym. I usually run without headphones and have used an old pair of in-ear ones at the gym before so I've not really had to worry about this!

Plantronics Bluetooth ones. They never fall out.

Aftershokz titanium. Best ones I've had for running.

2nd the aftershokz recommendation.

I don't get on with in ear headphones as I have small ears. They tend to hurt. I also sweat a lot so I'm constantly fiddling with them to keep them in.

The aftershokz are bone conduction so actually sit on your tragus. They are great for road running as you can hear cars, bicycles etc around you. I do find you need to have the volume up a bit to drown out the sound of the gym music, but still at a comfortable level to listen to. Once they're on I don't need to touch them at all.

Trekz titanium

I just got a simple set of bone conductor headphones from amazon, they were about £40. They are brilliant, really clear sound, waterproof/sweatproof/ rain proof. I would highly recommend them. I run in them every time and they never slip or move about. I'd never go back to wires and earbuds now.

I’ve never looked back since getting air pods which are in ear but don’t give me any trouble when running etc. I think it depends on the shape of your ears weirdly as I’ve had different in-ear headphones with wires which have fallen out before but these ones have been brilliant.

SwimmingKaren · 07/04/2019 21:08

You can get ear clips things to hold them on too, I’ve just remembered seeing them.

I wear on ear ones (currently skull candy) in gym and out running. I have a vast head and tiny ears and nothing stays in them. They stay in place fine.
