Personal trainer cost

I'm thinking of having a few sessions with a PT to step up my exercise routine and to be answerable to someone checking my weight so I curb my overeating
How much do folk pay for an hour PT session? I'm in NW England

£30 per hour at Pure Gym in central Manchester

It varies quite a lot between different trainers. Many do a discount if you are buying a number of sessions for example. for 1-2-1 it seems to mostly be between £30 and £45 a hour.

Finding one that trains you the way you want is the most important thing. Personally I didn't want a tactile trainer or someone who spends half the time stretching!!!

I block book 10 sessions at a time, works out at £30 per hour (near Bristol)

£50 per hour in my gym (that's with the block booking discount). London.

Not the Q asked by the op but.........the cost of PTs is outrageous. I know some are really knowledgeable, qualified, effective etc etc but so are many, many other professionals and still don't command that sort of hourly rate. The industry is swamped with PTs too, as there are few barriers to entry and so you get a lot of mediocre PTs charging £50 an hour. I find it boggling.

My PT is about £70ph but it AMAZING

If overeating is the problem (I have this problem too!) a PT probably isn’t the solution, recommend Brain Over Binge.

I pay £450 for 20 sessions. I used to pay more for a different one but this new one is fantastic. He trains me in CrossFit and it is a total revelation. He encourages me and pushes me without pushing me to do something I can’t physically do.

I also have just started with a nutritionist. You sign up for 3 months at a time and it is £95 a month. He does a food plan for me and each week we can tweak it if needed, again it is a total revelation that I can eat things I would normally avoid and I don’t feel hungry as the plan has a lot of protein.

It is also good to be accountable.

£40 per hour. South East.

I discovered to my horror that our gym skims off 50% of the hourly rate. I expected them to charge something for facilities etc but the trainers are all staff there and their clients all have to be members. I understand this is common practice but if I am paying £40 I expect £40 service whereas the PTs are generally giving £20 service because that is all they are getting.

I've been lucky enough to find a PT who runs his own business and hires gym space and he is totally worth his £40.

Thanks for the replies. Have met up with PT and think a few sessions will be useful so have booked in for 1st one on Wednesday. £30 / hour which seems reasonable
