Home workout - advice needed!

I'd really appreciate some advice on the home workout front. I'm a 47 year old, single parent who works full time.

I'm 5'3 and 9'7 (started HRT on the 1st December and my weight has crept up by around 5lbs, totally myself to blame as can't resist rubbish food). Anyway I'd like to get down to 8'10.

I exercise sporadically, HIIT, yoga, half marathon training (have had to pull out due to a knee injury, plus I can't out in the evenings to train), turbo training and road and mountain biking. I'd like to do 3/4 workouts during the week at home and then a long run/cycle at weekends (knee pain dependent). I've just ordered a dumbbell set made up of 1/2 and 3kg sets and was thinking something along the lines of this as a weekly routine but just need:

1 x weights work out (30 mins, YouTube)
2 x HIIT (20/30 mins, YouTube)
1x Turbo session (30 mins, YouTube)

Then at the weekend either a long bike ride or run and some Yoga.

Does anyone have a successful home workout programme they follow with proven success?

I started doing Alexia Clark at the start of the year after a few months of aimlessly wondering round YouTube fitness videos. I love it, I’m stronger and slimmer from it. You get 5 new workouts a week, I do 3 or 4 of them as I also run. There is a big Insta community where you can see others doing the workouts before you sign up #queenteam and #queen2019.

I came on to say alexia Clark too. I am five weeks into her programme and absolutely love it. I don't have weight to lose but have already seen a 2% decrease in body fat and nearly 2lb lean muscle mass gain and can see changes in my body already. Highly recommend

Thanks both, is it a pay service or are her videos on YouTube?

I love home workouts, especially since I also work full time. Getting to the gym on a consistent schedule, as you know, is near impossible. I've been thinking about competing in a tough mudder soon, and I recently found this home workout program from OpenFit called T-Minus 30, which is specifically designed for tough mudder training: www.openfit.com/p/t-minus-30

I've only been at it a few days but so far I really enjoy the burn that the workouts give me. I've tried others in the past and haven't felt the same results afterward.

Not everyone is looking to compete in a tough mudder, so OpenFit offers a few other great programs that you can try out with their 30-day free trial. I've seen on other forums people really pleased with their Xtend Barre program. It's a mix of ballet, yoga, and pilates and I definitely want to try it next: www.openfit.com/p/xtend-barre

badgerread Alexia Clark is €29.99 a month which works out about £24.

I use home workouts as extras really rather than as a cornerstone - I do a circuits class and a yoga class once a week and see a PT fortnightly (ish), so home workouts are on top really. I use Fitness Blender, which is free, I particularly like their videos for people who get bored easily Grin

I also have the Seconds App, and have devised a couple of circuits that I can do at home, based on my circuits class and what I do with the PT - 40secs on, 20 recovery, 10 different circuits, repeated 3 times, 2 minute recovery in between each full circuit.

I wonder if your weights will be heavy enough? It depends on what exercises you'll be doing, but my most used weights are my 5kg ones and my 8kg kettlebell. Something to think about adding to maybe? Or maybe using some resistance bands?
