Exercise

How do you manage to exercise everyday?

I love running, which I do two - three times a week. I also do yoga once a week and tend to walk as much as I can during daily life. However, I am really envious of people who are physically able to exercise every day. Don't you get exhausted???? I would love to do some sort of CV exercise daily, but I know that if I did then my mental health would plummet.

I'm asking out of curiosity, really. I am happy with my exercise regime as it is, but often wonder where people's energy comes from!

If you're happy, healthy and fit, then there's no problem. You're doing what's right for you.

I exercise every day and need to for my mental health. I run 5-8k on weekdays and 10-12k on Saturdays. I also do HIIT, free weights, body weight stuff, cycling, climbing and walking. I feel sluggish and sleep poorly if I don't exercise.

OP you do loads and have nowt to worry about. I'd estimate you do more than 90-95% females of your age (I'm female your age btw). I exercise every day bar injuries and am getting fewer injuries by reducing my runs (was clearing up to 50k per week) and incorporating core training and upper body weight training substitute days. It's massively improved my running too!

I couldn't run 8-9 miles in one go think I'd rather die-.
I'm super slow, though, one hour near my maxHR only gets me 5.5-6 miles.
I had many anemia problems when I was vegetarian (17 yrs). Eating meat again was an excellent decision for me (heme iron is more bio-available).

Once you're adapted to 20 minutes walking a day, 20 minutes walking a day doesn't increase your fitness, you can keep doing it forever - your body isn't going to waste effort making yourself fitter.

It's the same with those who are doing 5km running every day, their body is adapted to it, anything less makes them less fit.

The problem everyone has is moving from one state to another (so moving from the sofa to that 20 minutes walking, or from the walking to the running) as that requires you to build the fitness. Your body doesn't like that, so it takes time, or takes real effort fighting the "I don't want to do it today"

I've done something (either running or cycling, often both) every day for the last 15 odd months, my fitness isn't much better now than when I started, but I've barely had any days when I was sore or tired or difficult to get out. It's maintained (the pretty high) level of fitness and kept me alive mentally, to actually get fitter I'd need to do something more, or something different.

I run 6 days a week and try to do one other kind of exercise every day like a yoga class or swim. I don’t have children yet, I don’t watch TV and I have a short commute to work so I have time on my hands. I generally get up around 6 to run or go on my lunch break and drop into the yoga studio on my way home from work, meaning I’m back by 7.

I don't have a problem with being tired but think I do a good mix of stuff.

So Monday is body balance and then an hour run.
Tues is body pump
Weds is a core class and then a spin class.
Thurs is combat and then aqua circuits
Fri is spin then body pump
Sat is bodybalance and then weights/treadmill
Sun is treadmill for 45 mins then body pump

Plus I cycle to work and back most days which gets me 14 miles of cycling a day.

I literally have to cycle past the gym to get to work so will often just stop there on the way home, do a class or two and then cycle the rest of the way home.

I did build up to doing so many classes.

I run 6 days and do circuits/bootcamp type thing as well. In the week the only way really is to get up and run at 6.30, which gives me 40 mins or so, and then be back to do the dc and get them ready etc once Dh leaves. Circuits are 2 evenings a week so I'll do that as well or instead of running. At the weekend i do a long run (10+ miles usually) and then take a day off.

My youngest Ds is finally at nursery now, which means I can now do longer runs in the daytime, and I'm hoping to switch to alternate days running. I'm looking forward to it! But I think I'll still exercise on the other days, but just swimming or weights at home.

I mostly build exercise into daily life. So I cycle to work 4 times a week (only 2 miles each way but I take a scenic detour a couple of times a week to make it longer and more pleasant). I also cycle or walk with the dc to their activities (swimming and horse riding). Again, less than 5 miles but most people would drive that distance and my eldest dc is now confident to do one direction on his own (just ahead of me and younger dc) which is great for his self confidence. And then a family walk at the weekend, a solo run and am currently trying to do daily yoga.
Like pp if I go a few days without any movement I really notice it and would hate to have to drive to work every day for example.

I exercise everyday, but like others, I vary the exercise.

I don't believe in exercising hard every day.
I exercise really hard 4 times a week. Two e a week is martial arts which includes strength and conditioning work and I cycle and run once a week. But my cycle is a hard spin class or a long, hard outdoor road cycle. I'm active round about too.

I get changed into my workout gear as soon as I get home from work, prep dinner then do a 30 minute hiit workout with weights or kettle bells. Sometimes I'll just do cardio and depending on time I'll often do a 15 minute core or something else on top later in the evening. Am 46 and never felt fitter. Keeping my workouts short is what works for me, I get tired/bored after 30 minutes. Yesterday I did 3 20 mins workouts several hours apart, doesn't feel like much at the time but all adds up. I use YouTube, I could never find the time to get to a gym and have child at home (LP) so runnings out.
