What (if anything) did C25K do for your body?

I’ve just started it (did a few weeks at the tail end of 2017 so not my first time).

Just wondered if people saw a difference to their bodies after completing? I don’t have scales but I do have jeans that get tighter every time I put them on and just feel more uncomfortable every day.

Am hoping I’m likely to see a difference and if I don’t might be time to see the doctor about the weight gain.

Thanks!

My thighs and arse look way better. Less cellulite, less wobble. My pins are now sexy AF.

I did also lose over a stone by combining with dieting (just eating less).

I'm also obviously fitter so don't get out of breath with exertion.

And I still run because I love getting away from everything!

Blastandtroph · 03/01/2019 19:08

I did C25k alongside healthy eating. The running alone made me more slender (particularly arms and legs), lowered my blood pressure and pulse. Miss running, currently have a dodgy knee.

Nearly · 03/01/2019 19:09

Oh that is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear!

Was in the bath just now and can’t believe how big my thighs have got so if I can get rid of some flab off them I’ll be happy.

Thanks so much for replying :)

So does tummy tend not to change do we think?

I’m trying to cut down eating in general rather than eat healthily as I can’t stand dieting.

I found that my weight didn’t change that much in terms of what the scales were saying, and someone had advised me beforehand this would be the case so I used measuring tape and pictures on my phone.
I lost weight everywhere just very gradually! (Didn’t really change my diet!)
Doing my second half marathon in April - can’t recommend it enough.

AuntieStella · 03/01/2019 19:12

I started running when I had lost quite a lot of weight and realised I needed to tone up. I started with C25K, and have carried on into longer distances.

I did not lose weight from running - but if I've run over 10k, I can indulge if I feel like it and it's been (touch wood) consequence free.

I have a flatter tummy than I have ever had in my life and very toned legs. The rest of me is OK too, but I think general fitness classes (especially Pilates) can be more use overall.

Angeladelight · 03/01/2019 19:13

I didn’t actually lose weight from C25K because all the running made me so hungry all the time Blush but I do think I am a bit firmer and my legs are in better shape.

Nearly · 03/01/2019 19:14

Pictures are such a good idea. I’m so ashamed of my body right now that I don’t know if I even want to do that though.

I’m hoping that jeans fitting better will be a good record of whether it’s working. Can’t remember the last time I just put my jeans on. It’s a ten min work out in itself now!

Not sure about stomach changing through running alone. Main change for me in that area I would say was having one carb free meal a day and minimal alcohol.

fedup2017 · 03/01/2019 19:21

This time last year I was pushing a size 14... Couldn't run for more than a few meters without being out of breath.

Today I bought a size 8 dress and went for a 5 mile run and enjoyed it!!

It was just c25k though. I cut down on booze and treat food and kept going running 3 times a week increasing speed and distance. I still look like someone who has had children but I'm slimmer fitter and stronger. Go for it!

BucketLid · 03/01/2019 19:22

Less jiggle in my tummy and helped with my poor bladder control following two babies.

OP, I have a dodgy knee too - wear knee supports and you'll be fine!

brassbrass · 03/01/2019 19:35

Less wobble as someone said Grin legs more toned. I used to weigh myself but although my shape changed (slimmer legs, smaller bum) my weight didn't as fat turns to muscle.

Had a knee that used to click on bending which stopped I assume because the ligament/muscle around the knee joint tightened up. So a welcome unexpected side effect.

Keep it up it will take a couple of months to get in the groove but you will see changes I promise.

herethereandeverywhere · 03/01/2019 19:42

I lost fat from everywhere so tummy was flatter too (but I was eating way less so not all down to C25K) and bingo wings are gone.

I was also pushing a 14 and am now an 8.

Nearly · 03/01/2019 19:49

Thanks everyone! Feeling way more motivated now and can’t wait to get further into it.

We’re trying to spend less money so I’m hoping that will lead to less junk food binges at night after a trip to Tesco.

I’m going away in 9 weeks to the timing has worked out perfectly and I feel like I’ve got an end goal :)

How long did it take to make a difference? I started c25k last year. I tried for a few weeks (maybe not long enough) and gave up because it never got easier!

Thewerera66it · 03/01/2019 19:54

I run regularly and end each run with a few sets of push ups. They don't take very long and you're warmed up anyway so they aren't THAT much of an effort - but it's the way to go if you want toned arms Grin

herethereandeverywhere · 03/01/2019 19:55

Not sure how to attach pics but this is a before and after of me.

What (if anything) did C25K do for your body?
herethereandeverywhere · 03/01/2019 19:59

Oh and yy to ending the run with arm exercises. I use a chin up bar and do 5 lifts front grip, 5 lifts under grip and 2x 10 sets of tricep dips off a chair. My arms are the best they've ever looked! Grin

I followed you tube tutorials - couldn't lift myself at all when I started and built up gradually. It was seeing the tone in my legs that motivated me as I wanted the top half to match!

SocksRock · 03/01/2019 20:02

I used it as a way into running. I now regularly run up to 20km and am training for a full marathon. I started almost exactly 2 years ago and I've lost 3 stone in that time. However, I've lost the weight through sticking to 1200 calories a day, with the running just allowing me to eat a bit more.

MaisyPops · 03/01/2019 20:05

Just doing C25k I didn't notice much. I think I did c25k in 3-4 weeks.
After a few months of regularly running and making diet changes I noticed starting to firm up and develop muscle tone.

IdblowJonSnow · 03/01/2019 20:08

Here and there, you look amazing. How long did it take to look like that? Envy
I know quite a lot of people who run - none of them are as lean or toned. - They still look fab tho!
I can't run, I've tried but it really hurts my throat! Confused

Nononononono33 · 03/01/2019 20:15

Before Christmas I was doing a lot of running (not strictly C25K but just building up distance and speed when I felt I could), combined with 5:2, healthy weekdays and “normal” weekends. Didn’t lose much weight (probably due to the weekends!), I was about half a stone down from my heaviest, but I felt great, legs became very toned and my middle (my big problem area) really changed - could definitely tell my clothes fitted so much better with no flabby bit! Now Christmas has been and gone I will be back to my routine, just trying to be a bit better at weekends to lose a bit more weight. Weirdly, although I ate and drank anything I liked at Christmas (lots!), I am still feeling ok, jeans maybe a tad tighter this week, but not the usual Xmas spread I get. Assume my metabolism is generally a bit faster and I can handle the extra food and drink better. Am so surprised to find I enjoy running now and I love the benefits. Go OP!

Nononononono33 · 03/01/2019 20:16

Should say less of a flabby bit,it hasn’t disappeared entirely but has really gone down a lot!

herethereandeverywhere · 03/01/2019 20:30

Idblow (LOL at your username Grin)

About 9 months - running (with arm exercises at the end) 2-3 times a week.

I changed my diet so no snacks and very sparse Monday-Thursday (coffee for breakfast, 300cal lunch, healthy evening meal, no snacks, no alcohol) and for the 1st month pretty much every day unless I had a night out. At the weekends I have what I want but after the first month my appetite has dropped/stomach was a bit smaller so found myself not finishing all on my plate and not looking for snacks.

The main thing I found was to keep busy. If I'm not on the sofa in front of the TV I'm not looking to shove food and booze into my gob!

mrbob · 03/01/2019 20:33

Running alone made no difference to my body even doing 15km a week! My body hates me ;)
