Anyone doing C25K on a treadmill

I've just done W1R3 and I'm wondering what speed people do for the brisk walk and the run. I'm currently walking at 6km/hr and jogging at 7.5km/hr does this seem about right ? I also do it on a 1.5 incline to try and mimic wind resistance and the outside isn't complete flat.
Does this sound about right ? I don't know anyone else doing it in the gym, but with it getting so dark earlier it's my only option

I walk on 4.5 and run on 7.5. no incline. Im week 8 but I've completed before a few years ago. Once I get to the end of week 9 I'll be running at 8 then I'll need to up it as 30 mins won't get me 5k so I then focus on running 5k and just getting faster. Good luck.

@Cantdoright1 thanks that helpful to know that at 7.5 you can't get to 5k in 30 minutes 😊

Don't worry about your speed, do what's comfortable. It's more important that you are able to complete each scheduled run. Speed can come later, C25K is all about building stamina.

Your incline sounds about right. A slight incline mimics outdoor running better & I've heard it's better for your joints.

I did C25K on the treadmill & it was fine. I'm slow & steady, I have stamina but very little speed.

Just seen the last couple of posts. I didn't get to 5k in 30 minutes, but was just happy I could run for 30 minutes without stopping Grin

I'm doing w1r3 tomorrow! I've never run in my life so it's quite daunting, but I've been hitting the gym regularly and wanted the option to run outside eventually so just getting the confidence to do it.

I walk at 5kmph and run at 7.2kmph so far, but do feel as if I'm completely making it up! An incline of 2.0, again, just making it up.

To be honest, I'm still proud of myself for attempting to run in public.

W1 R3 on Sunday,
I'm on a treadmill in mph. 6 for running 3.5 for a walk - don't know what that works out in kph.
Well done all of us for getting moving!!!!

ADayAlwaysHasToEnd · 12/10/2018 22:50

It seems like a great program that has got many people moving 😊

I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels they are making it up as they go along 😂

Doesn’t matter what speed you run at. It can be a slow jog or a fast run. To be honest, my run speed isn’t much faster than my walk speed.

I started doing C2%K on a treadmill, on a 2.0 incline, walking at 5.5k or 6kph, and running at 7.5 or 8kph.

Since doing a lot more training, and a lot of strength work, I now warm up on the treadmill at around 7-8kph, and run without dying at around 10kph. All at 2.0 incline.

But that's taken a couple of years & I'm in my late 50s.

But it's true when they say:
"Your workout today last year will be your warm up tomorrow next year"

Just completed week one. Feel good if a little unfit but proud week one is done. How's everyone else getting on? Do you run at certain times? This is the first earlyish morning one I've done and it seemed a bit more of a slog....

EdWinchester · 14/10/2018 17:15

I’ve done it a few times when I have a break from running, to get me back into it.

I walk at 7 and run at 9.5. Someone upthread said they run at 6!? That is surely only walking pace?

I think it can be harder to run at a really slow pace tbh because unless you take tiny scuttling steps, you’d have to run in slow motion.

boddtm · 14/10/2018 17:50

Ed, that would be me, and it's 6MPH not kph.

SuzeD29 · 02/11/2018 07:37

Yes I walk at 5.5 and run at 8
