Hi Mum's

I am a first time Mum. I had my twins 3 months ago. I had a c-section with no major incidents.

My twins were a little early so they stayed in SCBU for a short time.

I was just wandering how long is long enough to wait before I start to play high impact sports ie badminton?

I know that swimming is recommended as it's quite gentle on the body.

Look forward to hearing from some Mums in the know.

Sam x

Your very best bet is to see a women’s health physio to get checked for diastis recti and pelvic floor strength.

Swimming and walking are both good, and I found post-natal Pilates a total game-changer (started 8 weeks post partum).

I’m 13 months post partum and have only just been able to start running, but have major pelvic floor injuries so that’s a very long recovery. I think my GP said minimum 12 weeks for impact sports, and to restart carefully if you’re breastfeeding as the relaxin in your system can make you a bit more injury prone.

Would also say make sure you’ve been doing daily pelvic floor exercises for a good few months (if you’re not already) before going back to impact sports - the nhs Squeezy app is good.

Good luck, and congratulations on your twins!

Oh and cycling/spinning are definitely pelvic floor safe if you need cardio in your life but you’re not quite there yet recovery wise. Saved my sanity while I wasn’t able to run!
